Colgate and Starr's last season

I second Magoo's opinion; I don't think it's a coincidence that the arrival of Q-PAC (and their money) and ECAC teams winning NCAA titles happened in quick succession.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Concerned? I'm all for them jumping to HE; think it would be a great idea. They need to graduate to a "better" league ;) BC, BU and Northeastern are more their speed. We could then draft an AHA team, like RIT or Army to join us. Let's shuffle the deck and bring in some new blood. Kind of bored with QU hanging around :)

not worried at all just liked the fact that the only league not to be affected by the switching has been the ECAC

It was a coincidence. The real driver happened 1000 miles west of the farthest west ECAC school. The more dominant WCHA teams starting to hemorrhage prospects to the major juniors. That helped eliminate the distortions that had built the super teams throughout the 90s, and made the ECAC competitive again.

Q just had perfect timing.

From a cursory review of the reax it looks like they are staying put, which surprises me. I had always assumed that Q was using the ECAC as a steppingstone and would bolt as soon as an opening came up.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

I don't think they would let the cat out of the bag until the playoffs are over, too much of a distraction.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

At one point there were 6 ECAC teams in the top 17 of the PWR...now one lone team remains. Helps to be the overall #1 seed as their path to the FF was not challenging IMO. So, who will take home the hardware? I really like NoDak.

Some scattered pics of the NAF on her twitter page if you care to scroll through. Just cut and paste the link:

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Yesssssss! And after our dismal performance this year, he's STILL committed?! Yessssssss! I hope his stats remain that impressive even when our defense hangs him out to dry. Hope he gets immediate playing time (sorry, Finn). He could be the best thing since Gagnon.

FWIW, UMD goalie just bolted 2 years early...

Geez there are a lot of players bolting to the pros this year (underclass men)

Was in Hammy over weekend and took a look at the NAF. It looks like a real monster.....I mean it looks HUGE from just driving by. It certainly dominates that space formerly the varsity soccer field.

Finn will be our starter next year, Point is coming the following year.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Gotcha, thx. I actually think that will be better as next year feels more like a transition year to claw ourselves out of the basement. Not sure how high expectations will be...but hope we win the season opener!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

I see that both Tylor and Tyson Spink have signed SPCs (standard player contract) with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. Go 'Gate!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

At the hockey banquet tonight, the Captains for next season were announced. They are: Jake Kulevich, Capt., Tim Harrison and Brett Corkey, Asst. Capts.
Tylor and Tyson are still playing with Toledo and Darcy is still playing with Elmira, so they were not in attendance. Mike Borkowski is still playing with Binghamton and he was at the banquet. Kevin was playing with Adirondack but is back at Colgate.
A nice evening and it was so good to see the boys. Go 'Gate!!!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Thanks for posting that CU. Some nice HE games for us to play but the dates for those Cornell games is just terrible. Another long stretch in the middle with no home games as well. The new arena will be nice but we may be a 8-12 team in the ECAC again

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

End of Nov. to Jan 20th with no home games?? They've done it again! Looks like Cornell game might be at T'giving when students are away? At least we have 16 home games - better than last season.

BU and Maine should be good series. Most interesting is the trip to AZ. Could that be a road trip for fellow posters?

Thanks CU.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Thank you CU13 our Hamilton native correspondent. Six of our first seven games are against Hockey East, huge PWR implications. I bet it's been thirty years since BU's last visit, probably when they were in the ECAC.
