Colgate and Starr's last season

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

End of Nov. to Jan 20th with no home games?? They've done it again! Looks like Cornell game might be at T'giving when students are away? At least we have 16 home games - better than last season.

BU and Maine should be good series. Most interesting is the trip to AZ. Could that be a road trip for fellow posters?

Thanks CU.

To be fair, you aren't really playing all that much during that stretch. I'd be more worried about that four-week layover than when you're playing at home. At least it's a full schedule, though.

Well, I hit the nail on the head for the OOC portion of our schedule (minus the actual dates) :)

The dates of our games against Cornell (as well as our OOC games) are subject to change. Tentatively, the home game vs. Cornell is scheduled for the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, so the students will be around. We would have no home games from Dec. 1 to Jan. 19, but four of the six games away from the Class of '65 Arena would be during winter break. Also, there is a break in the schedule in December for final exams.

The first two league games in the new barn (Princeton and Q-pac), however, are at the start of Thanksgiving break for the students. Furthermore, the game against BU looks to be during ANOTHER break for the students

As far as the Cornell games on Tuesdays go, I'm guessing either:
(A) Dec. 2-3 were the only dates that we could play @Arizona State
(B) Cornell booked an OOC series with a marquee opponent that weekend
(C) All of the above.

In my opinion, I'd rather see the AZ St. games moved to Jan. 6-7 if possible, and if Cornell isn't playing OOC games on Dec. 2-3, move the Cornell games to that weekend. If we are still stuck with Tuesday night Cornell games, I'd move the game @Lynah to 2/14, since we'd be playing home league games that weekend (less travel).

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Ryan Johnston made his NHL debut for the Canadiens the other night so maybe I was incorrect in thinking he made the wrong decision in turning pro early.

Chris Wagner is also back up with the Ducks.

Last year, Arizona State had their tournament in Tempe on that weekend, so it's probably already filled up. I'm a little shocked you guys didn't consider the 9th or 10th as well, unless your finals are the 12th-16th, of course.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Did Johnston play, I watched the game and didn't see him, I was switching back and forth to another game though.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

I didn't watch his second game but was following it in the ESPN app. He definitely played a substantial amount because at one point he was -1 and then later he was even. Looks like he played almost 20 minutes:

I read on the St. John's website that he was already the best breakout passer on their team.

All hail NoDak - this season's National Champions!

Did anyone watch the Frozen Four? Thoughts?......

Here endith the college hockey season.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

When does the offseason thread begin with recruit talk and Class of 65 Arena?

Was supporting NoDak in the final. Glad to see them play such an amazing game and win it all. Colgate - and most DI teams - are light years behind the Sious/Hawks. Their play left me speechless, and so does their tremendous fan support, wow. Did not like the constant references to a "Championship Drought" by the commentators when most teams are hoping to make it to the Big Dance just once.

Bill, you should know by now. That's Shabby's call. When our leader decides to start the off-season thread is up to him :)

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Central scouting has Colton Point our 2017-18 recruit listed as the top goalie recruit in North America. Unreal !

Carleton Canadians CCHL playoff record GP 10 GA 14 SO 4 GAA 1.32 SAA .951 6-4 220#

While playing for the North Bay Trappers he had 107 saves in a triple OT win over Sault St Marie.

And he chose tiny Colgate over everyone else, wow. Smartest decision he'll ever make. Have we ever had a TOP recruit in anything before?!

I am wondering if Anas will leave Qpac. Glad Garteig is a senior!

And yes, I know shabby is da man of the offseason, although I had to get things started for him last season if I recall?! Made me nervous!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

I just looked at the the pictures from within the rink. Does anyone know the dimensions of the rink, it looks like it might be close to an olympic sheet, but it is obviously hard to determine until the actual concrete is down.

Gone! Let's hope Point can help take the Raiders to new heights. Our own early departures have hurt us, but that is the payoff of better programs. I guess I hope it continues? We can't seem to restock the way many do, perhaps that may change.

Unfortunately, Alex Lyon of Yale still has a year left, SLUs Hayton will only be a Junior...and the Saints only lose 5 or so to graduation. Qpac will be vulnerable but have shown they can recruit strong freshmen talent. Will not miss Lappin (Brown) or Vesey! A lot of great talent comes through our league for sure and our postseason success over the last few years is proof of that.

Which ECAC school has the best recruiting class according to Heisenberg? Other than Point, who else looks impressive for Colgate and will make an immediate impact? Who is our next Tyler Burton or Austin Smith?

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Lyon signed a pro contract, he's gone already. Bobby McMann looks like a power forward, not sure about the rest.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

I am planning on going over next year for the Maine series and wanted to see how hard tickets will be for that? It seems like unfortunately college hockey tickets are a lot easier to get with pretty much every team than they were 10 years ago, but where you have the new rink opening I just wanted to check. I think it should be a pretty good series.

Hard to tell at this point with the new Class of '65 Arena opening in October. I would think that by the Maine series the novelty might have worn off a bit and there would be seats available. There will be standing room in the new rink so that is always an option. Best to call the Colgate Athletic ticket office @315-228-7600 to determine availability.
