Colgate and Starr's last season

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

As I said before I expect it all to be complete, but for a week left I would have expected more to be done. The Lobby was not painted and the floor not done (as in it looked like no permanent floor inside just rough and unfinished concrete. The side (home side) with the NHL Jersey's just seemed to be there with nothing drawing your eye to it, and the media area did not seem to be finished. There were also parts (in the fan area, the area nearest college street) which were off limits due to construction.

As I said I expect everything to be on schedule, just seems to be cutting this close and I am expecting (hoping for) an exciting weekend. The actual skating and seating bowl looked alright, just hoping for a new pristine arena when it opened. I did like how steep the seating bowl was, it was a perspective never seen at Starr.

They'll scramble, but I'm sure they'll have it done. The only thing I wouldn't expect is the NHL jerseys receiving anything else. Hopefully it isn't off in some area to the side (I didn't attend the open event); one thing I really liked about Starr was seeing the program history right when you walk in before turning to head to the seat.

I haven't been able to sign in to USCHO for a month ? I'll put the new thread up soon, sorry.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Looks like the outside work on the entry is done - all the equipment has been moved away. Wondering if they are going to finish the stone cladding - doesn't look like any progress on that front. Guess the boys and girls can probably play with or without that piece being completed.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

So what are people's thought on the team this year?

I think our defense will improve with one more year experience (I guess it couldn't get worse). I am wondering where the scoring will come from. Last year's seniors will be hard to replace on the score sheet.

I think Finn will feel the pressure of Point trying to get some playing time, which i am hoping will get him back to the performances he had sophomore year

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

We got to see the women beat Toronto yesterday in the new arena. Nice rink. Bright, loud music, big scoreboard broadcasting the game, lot of graphics and noise. Feels like a professional hockey arena, not a small college town rink. MUCH different feel compared to my last 27 years at Starr. I miss my Starr rink!!!. My seats in Starr were front row, "on the glass"......now I feel so far away from the action at Riggs. Dont' get me wrong, The Class of '65 Arena is very nice. I appreciate all who donated and raised money to build it, but it just doesn't feel like it belongs on Colgate's campus. Maybe I just need to grow into it. Will see how I feel after the games this weekend.....gonna be a great Saturday to be at Colgate.
Go 'gate!!!

The graphics and noise get the little ones excited, that's for sure. I assume the scoreboard has a video wall of sorts where they show replays along with cheesy "GET LOUD" animations?

Change is never easy on the outset, but I'm sure everyone will come to appreciate the new accoutrements added. I'm sure it's one happening place to bring the family; hopefully the staff kept that in mind. I'm looking forward to visiting in February.
