Colgate and Starr's last season

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Would be a lot worse if this happened next year in our new rink. Get this bad karma it out of our system before we cut the ribbon! Guess fate was telling you something, Rain. And not to my surprise, Lake State keeps Lappin off the scoresheet, and Bruno's team lays a goose egg.

All of us want the team to perform well. Regardless of the record, I could never do what these men do on any given day in and out of the classroom. We let our emotions and Colgate pride get in the way of an unforgiving sport and win or lose, we love them just the same. Keep fighting, Colgate.

Will also be at the last home game at Starr, maybe a sellout? There should be a reference made to that special 1989-1990 team.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

I'm kinda glad I stayed home yesterday, but the video feed last night was sub-standard. Even worse, we allowed a shorthanded goal (which resulted from a neutral-zone turnover), and Vermont's 3rd goal seemed rather soft - based on what the VT announcers were saying, it sounded like Finn was caught being a bit lackadaisical. Also, we are now 0-5 against Hockey East teams. Ughhh. I highly doubt that there is a "defeatist" mentality in the locker room, but it must get really frustrating with the losses piling up.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

We just aren't good. Sorry to say. I'm done! Good luck to the boys the rest of the season! Too tough to watch. Too proud of a Red Raider alum to watch this. Will be back to watch my last game at Starr on 2-27, but that's it! Have to finish my first game in Starr in Oct, 1989 with my last in Feb, 2016.
Go 'gate!

I'm not sure if it's mathmatically possible for us to climb to 8th in the ECAC standings -- too lazy today to figure it out --by the end of the season, but if so our last game at Starr would not be the Union game in Feb. We'd be hosting the 9th place team for a best of three series, so the season at Starr would be extended. One can always hope.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Between football and an Xmas ski trip I've been able to ignore the hockey struggles to date... was hoping we'd turn it around post-break. Guess not! I'll be up for the January weekend & Silver Puck, still hoping we find a spark for the 2nd half of the league season...

There's a short blurb by Nate Owen about a possible Gate turnaround on the USCHO home page if you have not already seen it. Just an FYI.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

We are allowing 3.95 goals per game, good for #59 of 60 teams, only AIC is worse.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Nothing to say here, things can only get better. We need a win this weekend!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Maine is averaging less than 2 goals per game. Call me crazy, but if we're going to salvage this season, we need to sweep. If we dont' sweep and/or give up at least 3 goals in JUST one of these games, we're toast.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Finally, a game where we're good defensively, and we STILL lose! I believe this is the 4th time this season where we give up the eventual GWG in the final 5 minutes of regulation or overtime. What is happening to us?

To look on the bright side, this was the best video reception I've received all year. And the Maine announcers were not annoying either. Just sayin'.......:)

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

I agree with ColSkate about the feed. Thanks, U Maine. I am bewildered and sad regarding the team. I feel badly for them. I am still hoping for a huge turnaround.
Go 'Gate.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

The frosh defensemen are not doing their jobs !! Plain and simple.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

So happy for the boys and especially happy for Zac Hamilton!! Good game, 'Gate!!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

First game I've watched in forever. Looked to me like they responded to Hamilton, he made some stops & then they started to roll in the 3rd. Hopefully a turning point?

Nice win. Colgate's PP was very productive tonight.

Oh, it's mathematically possible; you're only one point off a three-way tie for 8th.
