Colgate and Starr's last season

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Is the rink bringing in recruits or are we desperate for bodies ? We lose five this year, so far bringing in Ten new recruits for next year. And that doesn't include Dauda who's not on the Heisenberg's list, maybe because he was listed on this year. So, eleven so far and five more in upcoming years including a freshman in high school. (sixteen)

At least next year we won't be short for bodies, hope some are quality!

It's likely that some of those will be delayed. ;)

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Game is on Time Warner tonight channels 323, 324, 325. in central NY. Also, Q-Pac vs Yale is on SNY.

Lose five, but that doesn't include Baun and Johnson, who haven't really been replaced yet.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Two points. We'll take anything positive. Can they carry this over vs the Larries tomorrow?

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

A much better game played last night. We had two goals wiped out, one was very pretty but the goalie was touched just enough to negate it. Finn played well, the defensemen were much better. All in all, a solid game.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Great win over a formidable foe. When you shoot the puck and create offense, the chances present themselves. We haven't been doing that lately. Finn did look better; both teams had some quality chances and could have buried a few more. Sweeping the North Country is a daunting task, but one game at a time.

Congrats to WHockey for knocking off #5 Clarkson yesterday. Yet another last-minute collapse but a stunning victory in OT (video recap):

All the best to the football team today in Round 2 of the NCAA playoffs. Was surprised they took a plane or is that customary for the playoffs?

We all know who the 'real' Madison is ;)
Go 'Gate! Fight, team, fight.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Unbelievable football win over JMU this afternoon. Let's keep the ball (er, puck) rolling tonight vs. SLU!

FOOTBALL!!!!!!!

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

A tale of two cities. We tied it up last night and it looked like the mo was on our side, but it wasn't to be. I have no answers; short bench is killing us along with youngsters in the lineup. Just have to keep working. I know the kids are trying their best.
Kudos to football. It's on to Sam Houston State! Yowsa!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

SLU has 18 guys who can score, every night. Tough to deal with, even moreso for a team that's missing players.

Holy crap, is your PP really that good? We weren't happy with the calls, but either way, that power play ate us alive.

According to collegehockeystats.net, our PP is clicking at 22.7%. Not too shabby, but the penalty kill is just under 80%.

Fortunately, we now have a break in the schedule that will hopefully allow us to get healthy. But the VERY short bench has really taken its toll so far this season. Looking at Chris Heisenberg's recruit list, we should hopefully rectify this next season, but I won't hold my breath.

Even worse, we're in 11th place in the ECAC. Even MORE worse, EVERY team except Brown has a game in hand on us, and that will continue until mid-February. And to add salt on the wound, our travel partners seem to have returned to their mid-2000s form. We've dug ourselves into a deep hole, and hopefully we can turn it around in the second half of the season, but can we? At least we still have football to look forward to this Saturday!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

In case there are any football fans here, the game has been moved up to 11 AM CT on Sat. due to bad weather down in Texas.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Wishing my fellow posters a magical Christmas and holiday season!!
I saw some of the boys a few days ago. They said the team was pretty banged up but determined to turn the season around starting with the Vermont Tourney.
Here's to a healthy and happy New Year!
GO 'GATE!!!!!!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Thanks CU13. Back at ya'. Hope to see you at Starr sometime this season, and definitely at the Union game. Happy Holidays to all and may the New Year bring a turnaround for the team.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

After a long snooze we're back in action next week with our 47th meeting against Brown this year :) and a game with Vermont. Time to fire up the enthusiasm for 'Gate hockey and hope we can turn the corner.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Merry Christmas to all the 'Gate fans out there! I'm hoping to make it up to Vermont on Wednesday, weather permitting. Time to turn this season around!

There's still a chance to play Brown three more times potentially if the teams meet in the ECAC playoffs.

Colgate played St Lawrence six times in 2007-08; two ECAC league games, one non-conference tournament at the Governor's Cup in Albany and three ECAC first round playoff games at Starr Rink.
