Re: Colgate 2011-12

In a bit of good news, Austin Smith scored the most goals in league play in the last 20 years.

Also, when looking at the league stats I saw that both Price and Goulakos ended up in the Top 10 d-man scoring in the league scoring . . . but were each minus players. BUT Larkin finished in the Top 10 in the league in +/- at +12. Food for thought.

Re: Colgate 2011-12

Is there that much of a difference between a 2 and a 3 seed in the NCAAs?
I definitely think so. A 3-seed could end up facing the 5th best team in the country, whereas a 2-seed could get the 12th place team. There's usually a pretty demonstrable gap between the quality of 5 and 12. Also, 2-seed is the home team for the first game, allowing for better line matchups, etc.

Alas, Cornell could not take care of business so it's a moot point now. Cornell probably need a championship in Atlantic City to make the tournament now, but might be able to sneak in if they beat the right team (a TUC) in the consolation.

Re: Colgate 2011-12

Love the bye. Think that works to our benefit this year, especially the way the last 4 games went, just like starting over. Just have to win 2 of the next 3, all at home, I like that. Then win 2 at a neutral site and we're off to the NCAA's. Nice promotions in the rink over the weekend for Austin and the Hobey Baker and Wags for All American, nice job by the SID office.

Re: Colgate 2011-12

Game misconduct means ejected for THAT game. It is NOT a game disqualification, so unless the league decides to intervene, Bourdon will be able to play. Of course, they decided to suspend Wagner several days after his hit back in December...

Not necessarily, there is rule 4-4-c:

c. A player who receives three (3) game misconduct penalties in the same
season (including exhibition games) shall not be permitted to play in
the team’s next regular-season or tournament game against an NCAA
member institution. For each additional game misconduct penalty (e.g.
four, five, etc.) assessed to the same player in the same season, the player
shall be suspended for one (1) additional game. This shall not be part of a
progressive penalty structure. Exhibition games cannot be used to fulfill the
suspension for this violation.

Is this the player's third game misconduct?

Re: Colgate 2011-12

I'm sure the league will take a look at the hit simply because it was called as a contact to the head major which automatically triggered the game misconduct penalty. This was the same penalty that Chris Wagner was called for earlier this year and he subsequently received a one-game suspension which kept him out of the Merrimack game. Will Bourdon be suspended for a game? We'll see, I honestly don't remember enough about the hit to give an opinion and I would need to see the video. The game wasn't shown on television so the only look that people will have will come from the team cameras at center ice.

Gee, this all sounds so easy.

Re: Colgate 2011-12

Yale scares me even more than Q-pac.

Will Brown be this year's "Colgate"?

Yale completely changed they team about 3 weeks ago when we changed goalies and completely altered our top 3 lines. It has worked, and Yale is looking a lot more like the teams of the last couple years than the team of earlier this year. If we end up facing you guys, should be a tough series.
