Shouldn't have posted that. Horrible 1st period tonight cost us the game. At least we didn't go down without a fight.

Will be making the trip to tomorrow night's game. We've been in this situation before, we can do it again...

RPI was more ready or prepared than we were. Shots were likw 12-1 ten minutes into the game and 3-0 after one. It sounded like our worst first period this year according to GR.

We outshot them 19-10 in the second and third and got back to 3-2. I couldn't listen anymore after the first period.

Didn't tune in until after the 1st but hung around until the end. It was a good fight down the home stretch and sounds like we had the upper hand 5x5, which is promising. Gotta stay out of the box, plain and simple, but some questionable calls from what it sounded like. Imagine that, ECAC.

Vaguely remember the playoffs at HFH in '93...won the first, ppd the second game due to snow and that cost us the momentum and the series.

Yeah, the first period was ugly. Even GR was amazed at how bad we played. Listened to the end, and we sounded much better in the second, but it was too little too late. I'm worried about what this is going to do to the guys mentally....on the road...big loss in Game 1...yuck! All they can do now is "Man Up"...come out of the box flying as PRI did last night, and hope Mihalik can play another great game. Unfortunately staying out of the box and defensive breakdowns continue to put us in a hole early, as has been the case all season.:(

didn't watch...got home around 7:45 and by that time it was 3-0 and SOG were 17-7...although it sounds like they played well from that point forward, simply too much to overcome since we really don't have a lot of guys who can put the biscuit in the basket...agree...PLEASE stop the egregious defensive errors since York is getting back on track and getting down early tonight will be very bad...here's a statistic that may explain some of the problems facing both hockey and hoops...DR hired in summer of 2004...assuming a two-year "break-in" period (2006) we can now analyze both Vaughan's and Emmett Davis' records pre-06 and post-06...Vaughan has gone from a 53.0% winning percentage to (assuming a loss tonight) 41.9 per cent; Davis' coaching stats have declined from 48.5% down to 36.7 per cent. BTW, again congrats to the women's swim team (8-2/Patriot League winners), but note men's team went 1-8 (even when competitive the team essentially had NO DIVERS)...is this deja vu or what???

I watched the game last night via the video feed from RPI, which I highly recommend (for $8). Absolutely GRIM first period....as you all know. Glad we have found our goalie!!! Mihalik played great. Brian Day played like a teenager with a hugh chip on his shoulder (IMO)..........NOT the way you want your captain to play. Wish DV would play the McCann line more.......
Should be a barn-burner tonight. Take it to 'em, Gate...........take it to three!!

Was at the game tonight, and sat in a section near the Colgate bench. Lucky for me I was surrounded by several RPI fans. Felt out of place when RPI scored (both by Polacek), but was the only one in that section that had something to cheer for when the game ended.

Definitely a nail-biter the entire 60 minutes. We were horrible on special teams (giving up both a PPG and a SHG), but were the better 5x5 team. Lots of physical play and agressive forechecking. This is something that was lacking in our many losses this year. Mihalik was once again outstanding in net -- the 2 goals against (both from Polacek) he had absolutely no chance on. Both were the result of odd-man rushes where Polacek was fed the puck and shot it home before Mihalik could get a chance to make the stop.

Will be at tomorrow night's game in person. We can do this!!!!! Go 'Gate!

Boy do I love the postseason! Another win over another ranked team. Hope the boys can play their hearts out tonight. Again, if we stop Polacek, stay out of the box, and use solid defense, we can beat them 5x5...and the latter is what saved us. Still think the refs had some questionable calls. We are a good 12th place team and have played our league opponents tough all season.

Congrats to Quinny and the Crimson. Any road team that can win b2b games at Cheel gets my support!

Way to go guys!! Keep shadowing Polacek - he's the Killer! Can't have any retaliatory penalties and no 5x3's. Play smart, channel last night's strategy, and keep a positive mind-set even if down 1 or 2 goals. "It ain't over 'till the horn blows" - Yogi Berra.:)

Looks like a justified result as we outshot them in the 3rd, 4th and 5th periods not including two pipes hit, one in each OT. Well done. Cannot say enough about the resolve of this team after all they have endured this season.

Resolve is absolutely right, Marmot! Congrats, again, on a well played game by all! Having Mihalick in goal is like the monkey off everyone's back. They can rest assured that he will stop the big shots.......and at the same time, giving the rest of the team a chance to re-group and go forward. Looking forward to the Union series. I must mention how much I enjoyed the RPI video feed ......though it wasn't the same not hearing GR. Go Gate!!!

Nice to pick up a win like this after a long season. Much taller task coming up next weekend, but for now I'm just glad we've still got hockey :)
