Re: Colgate 2010-11

Weekend results:

Colgate - 4 pts
Harvard - 2 pts
Cornell - 2 pts
Dartmouth - 0 pts.

Yay for us! It's time to gloat. :) We're outta last place!

Re: Colgate 2010-11

A nice win after a sluggish first period...as I suspected tonight's attendance was a pathetic 969...as critical as i have been about the direction of the program the kids themselves never quit and they deserve at least a modicum of loyalty and support from their fellow students. Roughly calculated, I'd say 1 in 6 or 1 in 7 of the students showed up for "Senior Night"...self-absorption is, I suppose, a rite of passage in college, but these numbers are quite sad...the kids, and especially the seniors, deserve better.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Congrats to the boys and the coaches for a hard fought and long overdue sweep this weekend!!!! So glad for the Seniors!! Good luck next weekend and in the playoffs! I feel positive that the team will make some noise in the playoffs. And thanks to Gate Radio for his spirited and accurate play-by-play. It is fun to listen to the games!!!

Great win !! What a mamby pamby bunch of horse doo doo suspending Austin Smith !!! Gestapo ?????? I'm appauled.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Shabby...any info surrounding Austin Smith scratch would be much appreciated...

This question should be answered over a "soda" as opposed to being posted here. Great weekend for the (Red) Raiders. Congratulations! As Coach Vaughan would say, "it's not how you start, it's how you finish"!! Keeper going 'Gate! :)

Good things come to those who wait...and wait, and wait, and wait! CONGRATS! Last year, Brown showed every team what it means to believe and played a heck of a playoff series. Hope we can, too!

From the Voy forum:

Quote From Union Hockey Player

Q: What rink do you not like going to in the ECAC?

A: I would say there isn't any place that I hate.

Q: How about the toughest place to play?

A: Colgate is right up there with the lack of a crowd and atmosphere. It's a smaller rink and few fans. It's pretty dull in there. It's like playing in some junior leagues back in Ontario. It's a different feeling when you are used to the college hockey scene and the fans and the bands. Sometimes you have to remind yourself how important a game is no matter how many people are in the stands.

Completely agree 100% re: posting that information on here. No need for that.

Must be a young Union player ;)

Re: Tchr Bill's post involving Union player: see post #832...unfortunately, he's probably not alone in his assessment...not exactly the greatest recruiting asset in the world, either...

If you look at my picks the past few weeks, you'll notice a trend and see my reasons.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

hockeyenthusiast: I think both Colgate and Brown would love to have McintYre and Prough this weekend at Meehan. Anyways, both teams should really be up for this one and I am looking for a great game. BTW, McIntyre really looked good Sunday. A good representative of Colgate hockey.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

May have to drive down and see the games this weekend. I think Yale is vulnerable and we are playing real solid hockey right now. Should be fun. Is there a tailgate or anything planned?

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Congratulations to the seniors for sweeping their final home weekend. Hopefully, the improved play will continue on the road this weekend. It certainly says a lot about the character of the team that they are playing their best hockey after enduring a horrendous two months.

In other good news, the Spink twins continue to pour in points about a two per game clip for their junior club, Cornwall . . . if only we'd gotten their linemate, Laliberte, who, alas, is headed to RPI. . .

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Bad news: with Harvard defeating Brown tonight, we're back in last place :(

Good news: Mihalik is goaltender of the week :D
