Re: Colgate 2010-11

I am SO disappointed that the game tonight is not on the Colgate website...audio feed. I called someone who is at the game, and as Shabby has already said, it is 3-1 Colgate after the 2nd. I am so desperate to hear the game................Go Gate!

Re: Colgate 2010-11

We just lost the game 4-3. I had a call from a fan at the Pru Centre. Better days ahead.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

 :( :(

Maybe it was a good thing that I couldn't get a radio feed for this game. But I checked the score every half-hour. 1-0 'Gate after one, 3-1 'Gate after two, but we ended up losing 4-3?????

I thought tonight would be the turning point. Instead we once again found a way to lose. 7 losses in a row, 0-fer the month of November. Are we the new Brown??? Are we headed for a 12th place finish??? SOMETHING is wrong with the team, and it still intrigues me that we finished 4th last year...

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Wow. Was at the game and really was a very entertaining game. Yet another team we are better than but cant seem to hold on to any lead we get. The usual, breakaway given up to make it 3-2. Bad pass in our end 3-3. Then the obligatory stupid penalty to give up the pp goal with 6 minutes left. OUCH. Before you toss Evin under the bus he was very very good tonight.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Gaterrooter...seems to me that we are "better" than two teams this year, Army and Sacred Heart...nobody is throwing Evin under the bus this year except his own teammates...in ANY program winning starts at the top and that includes our current AD, the coaching staff, the seniors, and so on...12 games is a relatively thorough report card so let's all stop wishing for this and hoping for that and engage in some mature observations about the future direction of this program. Yours truly, and a number of others who post here remain concerned and the hope gained from "moral" victories is a fool's pursuit. We are now 2-9-1 and rank in the eighth or ninth decile of Division I programs.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Hey gang,

I apologize that the game was not on TEAMLINE - I had no idea what was going on. After reading at the score thread 5-10 minutes ago, I went over to the TEAMLINE page (since I assumed we were on as well) to check and see if there was an archive or what the situation was. And of course there was nothing there.

Our hockey broadcast schedule was turned into TEAMLINE before the Cornell game at the Prudential Center was made official. When the game was added, I guess no one informed TEAMLINE that it was an additional game to be added to the internet broadcast schedule. Personally, I didn't even realize it was not listed until tonight.

So, I'm sorry for that. I'll go through the schedule in the morning and make sure that we won't have this issue again.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

The players better not be throwing Evin "Under the bus". They hang him out to dry every game !!! I'm starting to detect internal problems here and I hope the parents are "mature" enough to stay out of it !!!

Re: Colgate 2010-11

NOBODY'S tossing Evin under the bus. The defense in front of him should be thrown under the bus. Going into the season I knew we wouldn't win every game but 2-9-1??? I was NEVER expecting that to happen! AND we aren't even plagued with injuries like Clarkson and Princeton were last year (and St. Lawrence this year)!!!!!

Is it the head coach? Is it the coaching staff? Is it the recruiting? Is it the line combinations? Is it Starr Rink, which every day to me seems more and more like a home-ice "disadvantage"??? Sadly, this isn't the first time we've had a team predicted to be in the top half of the ECAC standings only to slump in November. Take the 2006-07 team and the 2007-08 team. That's 3 times in the last 5 seasons. I really hope some changes are going to be made, or else the program is going to be in jeopardy.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

My post makes perfect sense, and your information is wrong. I have pretty good knowledge of what did and didn't happen the last few days, there are several players that clearly feel quite differently about what was provided to them. We have been in NJ since Thurs night, and if this is ANY indication of what the team normally goes through on the road, some one at Colgate needs to get it together and make sure things are in order. I am sorry if you feel my post was unimportant, but there is a lot of trouble on this team and the hot pockets didn't help....

I can't say what is normal travel, I have never heard the complaints that I have heard the last 2 days. Clearly there was some sort of problem and hot pockets were given out, perhaps on the bus? I certainly hope the ones that were cranky have gotten over it, I know "MY" Raider is ready to play harder, even if he was upset over the hot pocket. Go 'Gate!
.....kind of confused here, on the RPI 2010-11 Pt II thread in post #498 and 489 you intimate that you were at the RPI game on Fri. night and your boyfriend went to see CJ in the hospital....so you have a "MY raider and "MY" engineer and you're in NJ and NY? My apologies for not understanding all this.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

We're all too close to this Pru game to have cool heads. Yes, we're in bad shape, but we've got to face Army on Sat. and come up with a way to win THAT game. And it won't be easy. Army is a good team, as we know, but we have to start building for the second half, one period at a time - as Shabby said. Improvement in all areas has to be quick or this whole season will blow up. The Army game gives us a chance to build some confidence (if we win) before facing Niagara again. If we lose....well, that's not an option...

Re: Colgate 2010-11

I think this group of players is tight knit and will get through this. They have good captains. I don't think any of them have given up or are trowing any team member under the bus. They put together two good periods against Cornell and can build off that. Please, though, please change the Power play and penalty kill.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Its time to commence the turn-around. The Seniors will step up. As shabby said earlier, untimely penalties are an issue. Winning is the only cure to weird postings including bus stories about "Pop Tarts", LOL, or whatever everyone ate together. The place is "Gate", and the time is "Now".

Alinn29. You should be thrown under the bus. Grow-up, and if you have, then "Grow-up" some more.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

How long do we get to keep saying "still plenty of hockey left to be played"?

Question on next years recruiting class. As of now we show Wilson and Lidgett at forward and Corcoran at D. Lidgett looks like he was traded this year and is having an OK year. Joey Wilson looks to be putting up points like he does. Are these the only 3 guys coming in or will Borkowski be coming as well? All of them are listed at left wing.

Lidgett missed a few games because he was playing for Team Canada West in the World Jr. A championship. His trade from Calgary to Camrose was a definite step up and I think his numbers will be fine.

If you look at Heisenberg's list, Borkowski is listed as 2011 or 2012. Obviously right now there are three senior spots that are going to be open - Day, Brisebois and Poplawski. Those would be filled I'm guessing by Lidgett, Wilson and Corcoran. I believe Borkowski has eligibility left at junior after this year so if he is deferred to 2012 then he may go play in the BCHL or another league since he's been in the CJHL for three seasons already.

One might assume, completely in a hypothedical, that Borkowski is there in case anyone with eligibility remaining decides to sign and go to the professional ranks. Now, that has only happened once under Coach Vaughan but given the rash of recent signings, it is something that you have to prepare for just in case. I can't see anyone leaving at this point but it's best to be prepared in any case. Worse comes to worse, Borkowski joins the incoming 2012 group with Johnston, Lough and the Spink twins. That class is also going to have to include at least one goalie since Evin and Bessette will be graduating after next season.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

When I stated that Evin had been thrown "under the bus" I meant that he's been hung out to dry in that defensive lapses, both by his D and the forwards, have made it impossible for him to stop a high number of goals against this year. Cox, Williams and McIntire - in particular the first two - were our best defensive forwards last year (and it shows). Glad to see we're seriously looking at Canada, and especially Ontario, again. The New England prep leagues, with obvious exceptions, are not producing a lot of Division I talent these days. I'd still like to see some attempt at USHL recruiting - look at UN-Omaha this year - but offering grant-in-aid packages to Ontario guys has produced good results for us in the past.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Can't let this be on the second page. Brown ties UNH and BU in their last two games? Talk about a turnaround...

Re: Colgate 2010-11

First chance I've had to post some thoughts from Saturday night's game

Not really that great a game, especially in the 1st period. Both teams picked up the intensity as the night went on. We were strongest in the 2nd period, as befitting the score. 2 buried opportunities plus McPherson hitting the post on a 2x1

3rd period was all Cornell until they got the lead. Definitely had the sinking feeling watching the two teams skate around. Consistency through the game continues to haunt them, and I'm not sure what it will take to get that full 60 minute effort. Once Cornell goes up, it's very difficult to come back, and though we carved some chances, we were just never able to consistently hold posession in their end

Not particularly impressed with either goaltender, several big rebounds and out of position plays, plus at least one Evin goal that he just flubbed (their 1st, I think). While I've never necessarily been an Evin-believer, he got hung out to dry at least twice for goals and made a few good saves. It really is on the defense to make some plays and not let guys get behind them, and on the forwards to maintain the puck in the other end

Prudential Center really is a nice place, and it was decent crowd. Would have looked great in either of our rinks, but a bit small in the large pro setting
