Re: Colgate 2010-11

Right Shabby! Also, I read his piece about Brown's resurgent hockey program. Just imagine substituting "Colgate Raiders" and "Don Vaughn" for every mention of "Brown Bears" and "Brenden Whittet" in the article. Maybe some day we will see a column written about 'Gate hockey just like this one......however it may be awhile. Makes me jealous to read about how Bruno has made such a huge comeback in just a couple years.

OMG Bill in past seasons you have been one of the worst posters in regard to negative attacks against specific players!

Woodstick, I think Bill is winking after that statement...just kidding everyone! We all know how negative he's been over the years.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Okay I am in lovely NJ to see what I hope is a victory. Ihave to admit after talking to the players I know, I am WORRIED! WHY in the hell were they given hot pockets for Thanksgiving??(yes I am serious) I mean they already didn't get to go home but then to not even get a decent holiday meal too I don't think I would be very inspired....

Hmm, well, what's honestly open around Hamilton on Thanksgiving night? And of course the dining halls on campus are shut because of Thanksgiving break. To my knowledge, the team had a nice Thanksgiving meal at a local establishment and then I'd gather the players that were still in town were left to their own vices for dinner if they wanted anything.

The coaching staff does a tremendous job making sure the players have anything and everything at their disposal in preparation for a game - whether it's a pre-game meal at the hotel, a snack or a meal on the bus during a road trip or Gatorade/fruit for the locker room in between periods.

Your post is just ridiculous. I would've been better off just tying this..."Mr. Madison, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Re: Colgate 2010-11

My post makes perfect sense, and your information is wrong. I have pretty good knowledge of what did and didn't happen the last few days, there are several players that clearly feel quite differently about what was provided to them. We have been in NJ since Thurs night, and if this is ANY indication of what the team normally goes through on the road, some one at Colgate needs to get it together and make sure things are in order. I am sorry if you feel my post was unimportant, but there is a lot of trouble on this team and the hot pockets didn't help....

Re: Colgate 2010-11

In NCAA football circles it is not uncommon for the head coach - or coaches - to invite the whole team over for T'giving dinner at their houses, or at their fieldhouse, before the following weekend's game. Usually a big spread is put on for the team. I can't believe this does not happen at 'Gate or other ECAC shools.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Sheesh, I can't believe this is even a conversation. Normally around the Thanksgiving holiday when the team is required to stay on campus, they'll get together for a nice Thanksgiving meal at say the Colgate Inn, Seven Oaks, etc. etc. I can 100% confirm that as a fact having been to some of those dinners which are extremely nice and there is plenty of food to go around. Hell, if you go to Facebook, the women's hockey team has pictures of their Thanksgiving meal from the Colgate Inn. I would imagine that all of the teams still around at Colgate do something like this.

And just so this doesn't balloon into something stupid (which it wouldn't if say the team was 8-2-1 instead of 2-8-1), here's what a typical trip is like for the team traveling party.

Day Before Game
*Bus leaves after class/practice in the afternoon/early evening; we'll normally have at least lunch on the bus depending on the length of the drive.
*Drop off gear the rink, go to hotel and then go out for a team dinner (meals this year have been tremendous BTW).

Day of Game
*Breakfast in the morning prior to pre-game skate. Each hotel that we stay at is different with what they provide.
*In the early afternoon, the team eats a pre-game meal. Anyone who has played the game or is familiar with hockey players knows that this is chicken and pasta (for all teams.)
*There is light snacking food - bananas etc in the locker room prior to and during the game plus all sorts of Gatorade-type drinks
*Afterwards, there is a meal on the bus on the way home or if we're staying at the hotel and have a game the next night, the meal will be at the hotel.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

G.R.
Why waste your valuable time on some idiot renegade negative "Turkey Chaser". We all know how Colgate Hockey looks after their D-1 players. Its sad to have some loose cannon spoil the remains of a positive experience playing at the Rock
.
The only part I was hoping for was to see DMAC in the lineup today playing Philly at 1.00pm. That would have been great for all in attendance, including the players at Gate watching the game this afternoon.

Its funny that the whole Colgate team will have played a game at the Rock before DMac.

Hopefully they will play passionate hockey, and win this important game to inspire the commencement of possibly the "Greatest Comeback Season" ever.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Get it together tonight boys !!! I have complete confidence in the comeback starting tonight. Would have been a special "treat" to have seen Mac today play . BTW...I'm pretty sure the boys get fed pretty well....too much "mamby pamby" going on here. Win one period at a time, be accountable, watch your players back, minimize penalties.

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Is tonight the night we turn our season around? Will we put an end to a 6-game losing streak, a 7-game winless skid, and a 9-game winless slide against Cornell?

I sure hope so.

I know the players always get pumped up for a game against the Big Red. We'll need a FULL 60 MINUTES tonight if there's any indication that this team has the talent and ability to pull out a top-4 finish in the ECAC standings. While I wish I could be at tonight's game in person, I'll be here listening to the broadcast wearing my maroon clothing...

Re: Colgate 2010-11

I can't say what is normal travel, I have never heard the complaints that I have heard the last 2 days. Clearly there was some sort of problem and hot pockets were given out, perhaps on the bus? I certainly hope the ones that were cranky have gotten over it, I know "MY" Raider is ready to play harder, even if he was upset over the hot pocket. Go 'Gate!

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Okay, so I just went to teamline.cc, entered Colgate, and clicked on ice hockey to get the radio feed for tonight's game and it says there's no ice hockey game scheduled for today! Even more disappointing is the fact that there's a link for live audio on gocolgateraiders.com and it's just a link to the teamline page, telling me there's no game scheduled for today. Talk about a freak'n disaster! No live video, no live audio ... I'm just going to have to periodically check the score and keep my fingers crossed here...

Re: Colgate 2010-11

Good to know I'm not the only one having problems with this....I went in to the bball link (since they did have a game today) and its just giving me an error on the listen live page....

Re: Colgate 2010-11

I just got back from dinner...listening to the game ! It's 1-0 Gate a goal by Price. Get here to my comp and it says no game scheduled on teamline !!!!! Jinxed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
