Re: Colgate 2010-11
If there is a tunaround to this season the team may well look back at this Yale game as the turning point. We were much improved over the last few games IMHO, and the second and third periods may have been the best we've played all season. We were up tempo, making plays, frustrating Yale in the neutral zone and hitting along the boards. However we still need some work in the defensive end. It was "sink or swim" this game and I feel the players came out determined to play at Yale's level, and accept the challenge. Yes, the Bulldogs put in a number of goals in spurts, but we were not going to totally stop them. They are quick, great skaters, great passers, and find the open man time and again. They aren't nationally ranked for nothing.
Our showing against a #5 ranked team, I thought, was very good. If we can keep up this intensity level we *could* get back into the league's middle echelon. Much depends on replicating last night's effort, but as GRadio said, the building blocks are there..the seeds of a good offense are beginning to grow. The chemistry may be coming around. It's too bad it's taken this long, but we have to deal with it. Hopefully we can get some additional experience vs. Niagara, Cornell, and Bob Morris and come back in January to post some W's when it counts
