Coaching changes 2010 - and only coaching changes

Re: Coaching changes 2010 - and only coaching changes

... I am having trouble justifying the punishment.
Expectations tend to be different at a school with a religious affiliation like Concordia than at a public institution such as Minnesota State-Morehead. Beyond that, the situation may have been similar to hiring a babysitter to watch your children and learning that a romantic liaison took place in your home while you were away. When part of the job involves shepherding children, certain extracurriculars are frowned upon and often result in a termination.

Re: Coaching changes 2010 - and only coaching changes

I am really struggling with this one. Unless the counselor he was fooling around with was a current Concordia player, I am having trouble justifying the punishment. Sure, it was in poor taste but really, if both parties were adults, it seems sort of holier than thou.

I have noticed more and more that the universities like to pretend that they are some sort of Utopia and that no bad things ever happen there or that their employees are much, much better than the general population. In my opinion, this strict denial only causes the bubble to break in a different stress point.

Struggling? I don't think it was a camp for married men to pick up girls.

If he's married It is VERY wrong. He must know the rules! In my opinion he is was weak! Don't take a position where you can HURT or take advantage of someone. He deserves the press he's getting. These kids go to camps to become better players and learn hockey. Young 18, 19, 20 camp counslers shouldn't have to worry about older MARRIED men trying to date them.

Do your job. Period!

I do feel very sorry for his family and of course they shouldn't have been mentioned.

It was certainly the wrong place, wrong time for whatever went on between these two individuals. I'd say wrong where youth in attendance could potentially be aware of the situation and when the circumstances potentially interfere with what they're there to accomplish...aside from possibly impressing upon the attendees something their parents really might not appreciate when they're sending their daughters to a hockey camp.

This thread has gotten way off topic again. Time for someone to start a different thread for the sub-topic

Create a separate thread please or I will drop this one again.

Not that much off topic, as the issue in question led to a coaching change, which made it land in this thread, which is after all about coaching changes. (and sometimes the reasons behind it).

Re: Coaching changes 2010 - and only coaching changes

This is thread is meant to be a transaction summary of coaching movements and not a Larry King discussion of the behind the scenes dramas. Those sorts of topics can be dealt with in their own proper threads.

Ok, it is now July 1st. Normally ECAC Women's West games start around the beginning of November and Chatham still has not announced a coach. Has anyone heard anything to the contrary?

Heard there was an offer to an assistant from one of the other ECAC…turned it down due to other commitments…

So does anyone know who the person who turned down the job is. What School that Assistant is from.
Did they recently turn it down, because if they recently turned the job down, then will that mean they will re-open the search, which would mean they may not have someone until August. ISn't that late to bring a new coach in?

What is with all these schools dragging their feet to name coaches:
Syracuse
Maine
Chatham
Yale

There are alot of vacancies open, are there not a lot of people applying?
Chatham has been looking since March, as has Maine.
Are they just not willing to make the commitment to their programs,so no one wants to take the job.

What about Yale, who are the front runners?
And Syracuse assistant who might that be.

About a week ago I was told that Yale was in the process of interviewing 6 candidates. I have no idea who those candidates might be.

The Potsdam Bears have added assistant coach Lisa Rosengarten (Elmira College 10').

Lisa (Calgary, AB.) will join the existing staff of AC Farren Hart (Elmira College 08') and head coach Jay Green (Elmira College 80') for the 10/11 season.

Congratulations!

Seems Potty sure like their EC Grads...
