CCHA and WCHA should combine when BIg Ten forms???

Re: CCHA and WCHA should combine when BIg Ten forms???

The CCHA and WCHA should combine to save small school hockey

Call the new league (WCHA Super Confrence)

West Division
Alaska Ankorage
Alaska Fairbanks
Denver Pioneers
CC Tigers
North Dokata
Bemdji
St Cloud
UNO
Mankato
UMD Bulldogs

East Division
MTU Huskies
LSSU Lakers
NMU Wildcats
Ferris state
Bowling Green
Miami Ohio
Notre Dame
Western Michigan

Small schools have to stick together to survive and also college hockey needs to keep rivals playing each other in the WCHA.

The league games could be played in the tier that your in.

The CCHA will not survive without the big schools.

Notre Dame and Miami will leave the CCHA soon.....

The WCHA will save the CCHA.

ditto

Re: CCHA and WCHA should combine when BIg Ten forms???

So you are saying new posters dont understand college hockey. I get it. I am glad to see people are so NARROW minded.

So just by being a regular poster makes a person knowledgable about college hockey.
Yep.

There are alot of new poster who are quite knowledgeable. There are plenty with hundreds or even thousands who are not.

First rule of the internet. Always assume new people are idiots who know nothing until they can prove other wise. Still waiting with Yooper.

Re: CCHA and WCHA should combine when BIg Ten forms???

I'd be more in favor of this if it meant that the leagues would be able to form Voltron and slash the rest of college hockey with their blazing sword.

But they won't, and the CCHA already has the UAF Jet flying Bear, so we really don't need it anyway. He's already blown up Michigan State and Ohio State, meaning the BTHC is dead even before it formed.

I definitely should have put my "who wants to do meth?" post from the BTHC thread in here.

BTHC is old news.

We should stop wasting our time talking about it and spend the rest of our time trying to spread stupid rumors about America East, Big East, GLIAC, Ivy League, Liberty League, MAC, Northeast Conference, Northeast Ten, Northern Sun, and Patriot League all forming their own hockey conferences. Who wants to do meth?

Joined in on this thread late, (read the first and last pages only) so I apologize if this has already been hashed over.

I don't think it matters if the CCHA & WCHA combine or not. IMO, the formation of the BTHC is the beginning of the end for smaller schools Div. I programs. Think about it, if you had real hockey potential and were being courted by LSSU, BSU, Miami, N. Mich, etc. AND UM, OSU, MSU, etc., you have to ask yourself "Where will I get the most exposure?" With the Big Ten Network alive and well, I know where I'd go. The BTHC will soak up the best talent leaving the smaller schools behind. JMO.

They already do that. The only difference is that Penn State is there now and will take up 27 or 28 more spots. Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan State and Ohio State won't get any more players than they do now. Penn State also has only 18 scholarships available. Just like the rest. Where some of the smaller schools get players is that they can offer a scholarship or a partial when the big boys have their scholies all used up. So the player then has a decision. Does he walk on at Penn State or take a half scholarship at Ferris State? Does he take a half at Ohio State or a full at NMU. If the addition of the additional 18 scholarships at Penn State causes the rest of the CCHA and WCHA, who would be affected by an average of one player each, to collapse, I will be quite surprised.

Hmm...Suppose you're right. Guess I just didn't think of it that way. Thanks.

I think that the B1G Network is a big plus (and negative *), but what about the Fighting Sioux Sports Network for UND? What about Lakeland PTV and the Minnesota Channel for BSU? What about Charter Main Street for MSU and SCSU? How about NESN/Comcast New England for Hockey East? What about the deal the ECAC had with CBS College Sports? Are those going to go away just because of the BTHC?

* It also remains to be seen what happens to a school like Minnesota, who is used to having literally every game on TV across the region. Sure, 40 BTHC games on the B1G Network sounds great, but what if the Gophs go from every game on TV to half or less? How is that good for the program?

Then they would be cheering for UW-Houghton, and would have a rip-roaring D-III rivalry with UW-Marquette and UW-Sault Ste. Marie.
Actually, wasn't the eastern part of the UP considered a part of Michigan before the Toledo War? That would make LSSU the Northern Michigan University Lakers.

Oh and UW-Houghton and UW-Marquette would likely have an intense rivalry going on with Suomi or Finlandia, not sure which name they would use.

No, Lake State wouldn't exist if Michigan Tech wasn't in Michigan.
