No, Lake State wouldn't exist if Michigan Tech wasn't in Michigan.
Somebody would have set up a state school in the Soo.

* It also remains to be seen what happens to a school like Minnesota, who is used to having literally every game on TV across the region. Sure, 40 BTHC games on the B1G Network sounds great, but what if the Gophs go from every game on TV to half or less? How is that good for the program?
I think that the B1G Network is a big plus (and negative *), but what about the Fighting Sioux Sports Network for UND? What about Lakeland PTV and the Minnesota Channel for BSU? What about Charter Main Street for MSU and SCSU? How about NESN/Comcast New England for Hockey East? What about the deal the ECAC had with CBS College Sports? Are those going to go away just because of the BTHC?

Oh really? Why? As recently as a few years ago several state sport organizations did not even include the UP in their trophy, just a mitten.
Its not hard, add mass to the base of the trophy, and it won't tip over.Do you have any idea how hard it is to balance a trophy with the UP added onto the mitten?
I'm pretty sure that FSN will be more than happy to pick up whatever leftovers they can find. Fox's significant share of the ownership of the BTN could come into play.
Heck, I'd be willing to bet that there are several channels in the Twin Cities that would be glad to pick up a few games.
It's not like Madison, where I have my doubts that we'll see more than 6 non-BTN games on TV.
Interesting suff here. I do know when Minnesota leaves the WCHA they will not have the MPLS/St.Paul market anymore. IMO, losing the MPLS/St.Paul market severely hurts the WCHA. Only if the WCHA decides to have a game of the week will they then have the MPLS/St. Paul market. Every school in the WCHA should be concerned. It is not good.

They already do that. The only difference is that Penn State is there now and will take up 27 or 28 more spots. Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan State and Ohio State won't get any more players than they do now. Penn State also has only 18 scholarships available. Just like the rest. Where some of the smaller schools get players is that they can offer a scholarship or a partial when the big boys have their scholies all used up. So the player then has a decision. Does he walk on at Penn State or take a half scholarship at Ferris State? Does he take a half at Ohio State or a full at NMU. If the addition of the additional 18 scholarships at Penn State causes the rest of the CCHA and WCHA, who would be affected by an average of one player each, to collapse, I will be quite surprised.

That's because most trolls don't respect Yoopers and their sports.

But then we'd hear complaints about how the LP part of the trophy is much more impressively massive than the UP part.
Is this after UAH drops its hockey program?
Do you know something UAH does not?
unfortunately, it`s a reasonable presumption.
hosting a frozen 4 doesnt mean anything. One of the Alaska schools hosted in 99 in anaheim (over 1,000 miles away from campus) and Navy, who doesnt have a program, hosted in Washington DC a couple of years ago. As far as not giving up on things, is that something you really want to say about the state of Alabama?? (think segregation/George Wallace)
Well, that wasn't exactly Alabama's shining moment there, but other than that, it's usually a good quality to stick with something even when things are not easy and going your way.hosting a frozen 4 doesnt mean anything. One of the Alaska schools hosted in 99 in anaheim (over 1,000 miles away from campus) and Navy, who doesnt have a program, hosted in Washington DC a couple of years ago.
