CC @ Minnesota State 11/13-14

Re: CC @ Minnesota State 11/13-14

Stealin one on the road is always part of a sucessful season

Sounded like a pretty evenly matched game

Saturday will be war - gotta love college hockey

Re: CC @ Minnesota State 11/13-14

Great game. Obviously a dissapointing outcome for Mav fans. CC takes first period. Mav's control second and third. Shepherd controls final score..... Mav's Irwin was best player on the ice. This should set up a great game tomorrow night. Good luck to both teams.

Looked like a good call on my radio (just kidding)
Go Saturday

CC did what good teams need to do in this league... capitalize on the opportunity. It only took something like a whole 8 seconds.... Top shelf blocker side.

Re: CC @ Minnesota State 11/13-14

Obviously we CC fans are happy with the result and will definitely take a road victory after what sounds like was a hard fought battle and some great goaltending. That said, if it was in fact a bad call in OT (I have no way to judge for myself), I hate to see that happen, no matter who benefits.

Yeah, I was at the AFA game vs. Holy Cross tonight, so now I'm home watching the Nuggets beat the Lakers. Not ready for sleep yet!

So far you are missing a really entertaining year

Freshmen are kickin it

I wouldn't necessarily say that it was a bad call. It was questionable considering it was overtime and how they typically let a little bit more slide in OT. There's two things that I would question about the call. Near the middle of the third period we had one of our guys get his jersey grabbed in the middle of the ice and pulled hard enough to make his feet fly up over his head, yet no call for holding, but the one in OT was called. Second, does anyone know why MSU wasn't able to change the lineup after the penalty? We had 4 guys that just played 45 seconds of pretty frenetic play (and don't necessarily play on the penalty kill) that didn't get to change out. Jutting was furious. I think that's the more appropriate thing to be upset about. The penalty was legit, but not letting us switch up was pretty hard to swallow.

Thanks for the recap Bale

We go at it again tomorrow
Can't ask for more than that

Re: CC @ Minnesota State 11/13-14

Frankly, I'm not sure that we have a single reliable scorer on our roster. What I do think we have is about 5-6 above average scorers that can put it in the net consistently (if that makes any sens). I think that from what I have seen so far is that we have a bunch of freshmen and sophomores that are talented, but raw players. We don't have any polished guys like Backes or Stenesen or even Shane Joseph. We have a lot of Mick Berge type guys that are able to score given they work their butts off.

OK, I rescind this comment. We are awful at putting the puck away. Three times with the puck on our sticks within 10 feet of the net and the goalie out of position and we couldn't bury it. You can't beat good teams like that.

Re: CC @ Minnesota State 11/13-14

Good win for CC tonight. I do hate to see penalties called in OT though. Sounded like a great game on radio. Tomorrow will probably be something like 9-8. :)

Re: CC @ Minnesota State 11/13-14

I think you guys have some good speed
I got to watch your series against DU on TV

Obviously tonights goal tending was up to par
Harrison Louwerse - Mouilerat have scored in the past - right?
Was impressed with Hays on TV
Someone said Irwin was good tonight

CC will not win the NCAA tourney this year but it is a fun ride anyway
Kind of fun to be the underdog after last years disappointment
Mankato just needs to keep pushing
End of year is what matters

Goals come in bunches sometimes

Good info, Bale.

It is refreshing and commendable that most of you Mavs fans all are willing to talk about a call that was questionable without coming across as bitter whiners like so many fans do. Bad and questionable calls are unfortunately part of the game. I hate to win that way, but I appreciate the attitude that most of you are displaying about it because I try to act the same way when calls go against my own team.

Re: CC @ Minnesota State 11/13-14

I'll put it this way: on the first of CC's three penalties tonight, Hunt called the penalty from way out of position. Shepherd skated over to him and gave him a long explanation about why he didn't make the call even though it was at least a borderline play. Twenty-six seconds later, they call a make-up penalty on MSU. And that's basically the difference. They were looking for an reason to call a penalty on one team and looking for a reason not to call a penalty on the other.

The penalty on Canzanello is a ticky-tack weak call at any stage of the game, and just astounding at that juncture. He stood him up at the blueline and gets 2 seconds to ride him off before he has to release the player. By that point, the puck is already in the corner and Sweatt was way out of the play. If the bar for penalties is set that low, then there were about two dozen missed calls tonight.

Not letting them change lines is also just as bad. I don't know what Hunt is trying to prove. That said, it's a mistake on Jutting for not using his timeout there. It's not like they carry over.

Other than the end though, it was a really entertaining game for being scoreless all the way throughout. Howe and Testwuide were both phenomenal for CC.

Despite overtime the penality was strong enough to be called. Regret that I do not know why the Mav's could not change out. Your assessment is fair.
