Canada IS hockey

Re: Happy Canada Day

Re: Happy Canada Day

But you of all people should be happy about this....

"This will be the first National Women’s Program camp for..... Reagan Fischer (Irma, Alta./Dartmouth College, ECAC) "

Great reward after a strong season. Hope this info is getting to "Paps".

We like to think of it as the first Adrenalin Source for Sports employee to make the National camp. :)

Fisch has a good chance of making that squad.

Giver!

Re: Canada IS hockey

There was a hockey game last night...here's the summary in case you missed it whilst staying glued to the D3 Recruits thread. :D

Was at the game and was impressed with the speed of some of the players the American Squad. The interesting part was that Canada dominated territorially early in the game, but all they had to show for it was a 2-0 deficit. They then made it 2-1, but the Americans made it 3-1 shortly after, and on the same shift rung one of the post in the dying seconds of the first period that could have made it 4-1. The second period was dominated by the US, but no scoring. The Canucks started to mount a comeback midway in the third, and after they scored on the PP to make it 3-2 with about 8 minutes left, it was game on. There were several glorious chances at both ends, but no further scoring......Entertaining last 10 minutes for sure.

Re: Canada IS hockey

Big game Sunday morning for bragging rights for a few months. Nice to see the Canadian girls come up with a hard fought win! Not much separating the two teams across the board. Goaltending will be a key in the game tomorrow for sure! Should be exciting!

Re: Canada IS hockey

How was the 3rd game? How did the teams stack up against each other? What were each teams strengths and weakenesses? Players to watch for both sides? Thanks for any insights........

Re: Happy Canada Day

Someone has to start to raise the question of how the US coaches were picked.

The games were extremely close as were the calibre of players involved. The two teams created excitement and close competition because of their strengths and individual abilities. The USA had a little more offensive creativity and Canada showed more grit and determination. All goaltenders had a goal or two that they would have liked to have another crack at in each game. I think Canada had a slight edge in game management and stacked a line in the third and final game and seemed to change players and adjust as the game went on to counter the competition or succeed in a specific situation. USA shortened the benches early in each game and had specific players playing PP/PK time. The coaches on both teams they seemed to be in control and had different ways of managing the bench and game. The USA Head Coach was verbally involved and animated at times while the Canada Coach was quiet and controlled conversing opening on occasion. Assistants on both sides communicated well with players as they came to the bench. In the end, these games were just a chance to test the players and challenge the competition while getting an idea of who can play where and what needs work before the World event in January. Both teams need to improve special teams, attack, chip plays, neutral zone play, forcheck, d-zone play, line combos and get proper match-ups. Great Games that could have gone either way at any time...very close and exciting! The staffs will be challenged to put it all together and peak at the right time and hopefully it will be a USA-Canada Final for all the marbles in January once again! Well done to all players and staff members!

Wow. According to this post, the coaches have a hell of a lot of work to do. ;) In a short series, most of this will be adjusted as the games progress. It appears that Canadian coaching did this a little better so far. Not much more can be done until January. We'll see then. Good luck to all. :)

Likely the teams will get together for four or five practices right after Christmas before heading over to the the Czech Republic. I am sure they will have a plan to iron out some systems prior to the event and as CanHockeyGuy noted adjust within games and during 'down time'.
