Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

The product/right dichotomy is unhelpful. After all, I think we would agree that food is a basic human right, but we also have food companies. We just also make sure that everyone can eat.
I don't think you have to view food as a "right" to justify support for WIC. Even as a rich person (by any reasonable definition), I still would prefer to live in a society where people aren't starving in the street. Pragmatically, we're all better off if everyone has at least a little than if most have some and some have none.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

If I am making 19x, you can be sure I have employed an army of accountants and lawyers to ensure that my effective rate is a heck of a lot lower than 90%. Or, I move to some country that does not tax me at 90% and remove my $$ from the US economy.

The trick is you want the money, but you have to make it a reasonable theft, not grand theft government.

then you are living in another country and making your income off non-americans and specifically not using the resources of america.

not a big deal then.

sorta how we don't take russian land barrons nor chinese trucking executives.

Don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out. I hear Somalia has the kind of taxes you want to pay.

Here's the list

Some real winners on that list...

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

No, I think you miss the piece where he eliminates the payroll tax altogether and replaces it with the new proposal. That's how he gets zero increase.

I'm sorry but in all serious I don't think that makes sense. He's on the one hand calling for a higher payroll tax to help pay for universal health care...then in a different proposal he eliminates payroll taxes? Is that your understanding as well?

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

UAE and Vatican seem to be the only safe bets today. I suppose if I have gobs of money, I could buy an island and declare myself king.

are you then funding your own navy? or paying someone to patrol for you :D

Countries A-L beg to differ.

You're funny.

Being able to marry who'd you'd like is a relatively new concept. Sex has been outlawed, controlled, banned, and shamed for centuries.
No. What's funny is about ten years from now people like you and JJ are going to be running around claiming wifi or high speed internet access is a "basic human right."
Seems to me that to qualify as a basic human right it ought to be something that is basic to the human species.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

You keep trying to jam me into your pre-set narratives, but none of them fit. Also, I'm not writing from an angry place -- the only true anger I've felt in politics was when Dubya and the Neocons were destroying our country.

But if you're worried about Bernie that's good, because the more Bernie pushes Hillary the better a candidate she will be.

Yeah it has been working like gangbusters so far. All he has done is show she cant handle the spotlight and is actually more unlikeable the more she tries to seem like a human. She will win, but lets not pretend it is because she is all of a sudden a better candidate than she was in 2008...she is exactly the same Bernie just isnt Obama.

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

Wow. Nice long form "* you" to those of us in the working class getting screwed over. "Don't worry, you'll get something eventually!" is not a very compelling argument.

Rover is a Limousine Liberal...he cares about "the people" less than Hillary.

Not so. Not for me anyway. I don't care if health care is a basic human right or not. Every other major civilized country covers it. We're the only hold out. That's comical as far as I'm concerned. We're also the only ones without paid family leave. It would be a pretty solid argument you'd have if it wasn't already happening other places in the world.

Course, we could solve the whole thing if you'd just be willing to set the min wage at a livable amount and stop regressively taxing the **** out of everyone with a job who doesn't make 150 G's+. But, that's never going to happen on Repub planet so I guess not.

So living is not basic to the human species?

Re: Campaign 2016 - Snow White and the 7 dwarfs.

If Rubio wasn't so young (or a big stature guy), he'd be super dangerous. May still yet be.

Sure, we all have a right not to have someone else take our life from us. That's my point. A basic human right is something you already have. You are effectively born with it, and no one should be able to take it away from you. It's not something someone or something has to provide for you. I have a basic human right to, say, practice a religion of my choice. But I don't have a right to have the government buy me the golden calf I may choose to worship.

How is denying medical care that allows a person to live simply because of financial reasons not denying one the right to life? How is that in any way equivalent to your golden calf BS? JFC how can you think like this?!? The right to live is the most basic fundamental human right! And you wish to deny that to people because of money?!? You're a monster.
