I don't think you have to view food as a "right" to justify support for WIC. Even as a rich person (by any reasonable definition), I still would prefer to live in a society where people aren't starving in the street. Pragmatically, we're all better off if everyone has at least a little than if most have some and some have none.The product/right dichotomy is unhelpful. After all, I think we would agree that food is a basic human right, but we also have food companies. We just also make sure that everyone can eat.
