Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

While I agree with the "Not My President" Protestors right to protest...I wonder how many of those people didnt vote or worse yet voted 3rd Party. Something tells me many of them are like those Brexit losers who didnt vote or voted for Brexit because they didnt think it would happen.

I have a buddy who was a big Gary Johnson backer...he teaches inner city kids and now he has no idea what to tell them. I feel for him but at the same time part of me doesnt.

My brother voted third party in WI -_-

Only excuse I'll give him is that he's in med school and doesn't follow politics like we do. But at the same time he was one of however many thousand people that did the same thing and I don't really blame people who weren't exactly excited for Hillary.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

You're absolutely correct.

And I'd trade Stabenow for Franken in a heartbeat.

So he hates his job then. Interesting.

Well I think he felt both candidates didnt represent him...I think he also assumed it was in the bag for Hillary.

Trump won WI by about 25,000 votes. His one third party vote was irrelevant.

I shut the "news" off after about half an hour, but the protests were peaceful, from what I saw. I'm cool with that.

I still chuckle at the "if Trump loses, just accept the results" crowd, of which I bet MANY who said/felt that are now not accepting the results. ;)

Bull$hit. They are not protesting the legitimacy of the election. They are voicing their displeasure with the results. Completely ****ing different thing, and you know it.

I think the main thing that brings this out is the fact Hillary won the popular vote. I mean, the system is the one we have and have always used so the vast majority of us accept it, even begrudgingly, but it can be hard to stomach for some. Especially given the reactions by some Trump supporters today.

You think it'd be peaceful if he lost??? It was never Hillary people threatening to not accept

Displeasure at the results......that is not accepting the results. Just using different words there.

Brent, dont be gator. Dont pretend there isnt a difference just cause you know it pokes people the wrong way. They arent demanding a recount or disavowing the results they are ticked that a man who they feel is un-American and evil is now in charge. That is their right.

Really? I was displeased that the Gophers lost to SCCC...I accepted the results.

Trump was going to challenge the results...they are just protesting saying what has happened is wrong not that they want a recount or anything.

That is not accepting the results. The protesters want him out, and he hasn't even taken office yet. It's the same difference. I'm not disparaging them, they can protest all they want. It's their right, and I support that right. I just ask that they keep it peaceful, and they are. I am very happy about that.

No, it's not. There are no claims the election was stolen, rigged or won by fraud. They're ****ed about the results, but they acknowledge what they are.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

Well said Senator. There is a reason I want him to run. He is a guy who relates to people and is very well respected.

1. I'm going to preface this with my evolution on Franken. The first time he ran, I couldn't even see his name without becoming enraged we had elected another "clown". Over the next six years he slowly earned my respect. Fighting against SOPA and big business. He's been described as the hardest working Senator on the Hill. He takes the time to understand a topic, then he'll make a decision. He's the best since Wellstone.

2. He'd make for a terrible candidate and a fantastic President. If you've ever seen him give interviews, he's not great. When he's going from a prepared speech, he's amazing.

Then instead of protesting, how about working to change what might happen in the future? Even some Hillary official on CNN (I honestly can't remember his name) said, "We lost. We now have to take measures to fix this. I don't know what good these protests are doing right now."

If we have learned anything from the Trump phenomenon it is that you dont need to be able to give good interviews anymore you need to be able to connect with people on a personal level. Franken does that.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XXV: Fin

*sigh* Vandalism being reported in the protests. Some fires in the streets. Throwing bottles and fireworks towards police.

Obviously, this is a SMALL portion of the protests, but still. It was SO CLOSE to being peaceful. :(

Well yeah no ****, I wasn't trying to argue otherwise. I just think the democrats did a **** job in this election and that's why you're seeing what we saw for democratic voter turnout.

Then instead of protesting, how about working to change what might happen in the future? Even some Hillary official on CNN (I honestly can't remember his name) said, "We lost. We now have to take measures to fix this. I don't know what good these protests are doing right now."
You're absolutely right about wanting to fix the future, that needs to be the focus and they need to figure out how to get the democratic party to stop being so ****ing incompetent. That should be the main goal and drive right now.

That said I have no problem with people protesting as long as they're abiding the law.
