Campaign 2016 Part XVII: If debates are great theater, I think this one closes early

Well, this is the guy who gave a speech in Ashburn telling them how awful their economy was and asking if anyone was affected by factory closures in SW VA or Pennsylvania. (You'd think he would know Ashburn well. His golf course is next door in Sterling, and remember that's the one with the memorial for the thousands dead in a great Civil War battle.)

Lets not forget his asking the Minnesota Billionaires how the coal industry around here is doing :D

What a rube. The coal industry is 70 miles north and west of Bismarck. He missed by a six hour drive.

You live in Florida. By definition, you're old and senile. I'm sticking with my belief in your selective memory.

I saw an incredible stat a few days ago. There are now more people in FL under 20* than over 65.

The olds all retire out west now to get away from the humidity. I never understood why they went to FL in the first place. It's a hell hole.

* And they're all brown. FL is going to follow VA as a solid blue lock within 10 years.

So what is there to ask about in Wobegon . . . rosemaling?

Serious question: Do you feel the same about Romney's 47% statement (Again, one can argue the percentages)?

That it wasn't forgotten? Yes. Just like the Obama statement, it was a perfect shorthand for the way that opponents were trying to paint the candidate. So "bibles and guns" Obama was an effete cultural elitist, while "47%" Romney was a clueless upper class twit.

That it was an un-PC truth? No, of course not. Just on the face of it it was dumb: everybody pays some form of taxes. But the whole premise is ridiculous as well. Romney's dollars at work aren't Romney at work. If there is a parasitic taker class in this country, it's the 1%, not the poors.

Amen. I never got Florida's allure either unless you're super wealthy and can afford one of those waterfront mansions in Miami Beach or something like that.

Personally I think the Seinfeld TV show killed all that migration to Florida. One look at Maury Seinfeld and his wife and people thought...Oh my GOD, I look like THAT?!?! :D

"Del Boca Vista" was hilarious too. I wonder if there's really a place down there with that name?

Meh, I moved out of NY to FL because the weather is nicer (I'd rather deal with the humidity for 4 months in the summer than 4 months of below zero), tax relief and I can golf year round. Plus Tampa has all the sports teams I care to watch, solid airport and cheap housing. /shrug

I have relatives that recently bought a place in the PHX area. There is no humidity, but I'd never seen 116F on the outside thermometer of a vehicle before visiting them.

Funny thing is, it's not that hot.

I mean it is, but as long as you take lots of water and cover your head you're fine.

The NYDN piles on:

In the hours after the Clinton campaign finally came clean (or did it?) Sunday about the candidate's pneumonia diagnosis two days earlier, the only question that mattered was, as NBCNews.com put it, "Clinton's core vulnerability is that most Americans don't find her honest or trustworthy. Will voters now feel like they've been misled about her health?"

Why is this even a question? Of course it raises trust issues. Worse, it plays into the hands of Clinton foes who assume everything she says is already a lie.

Or lounge in the infinity saltwater pool with swim-up bar? ;)

I don't even want to think about drinking under that sun.

Even that homeowner (known to imbibe more than a little) was 75% or more "vodka tonic, hold the vodka", so yeah, hot.

Nice.

The Russian word translates to "loser."

Nice.

The Russian word translates to "loser."

Passing restrictive laws (or stating the plan is to put an unfavored industry out of business).
Eliminating independent media (or having them self-align as patsies).
Plundering wealth for benefit of yourself (or your foundation).

Detractors happen to occasionally perish?

Dang, if only Mrs. Clinton hadn't been elected to the Senate ....

(Our current two parties are just two heads of the same Hydra.)
