Campaign 2016 Part XVII: If debates are great theater, I think this one closes early

It's her "47%" moment and that's the sound bite that'll play. Why? The rest is too long for an eight second sound bite.

You just go on believing that sparky! :D

I'm amused by the old timey thinking that if the media hops on a negative story its doom for a candidate. If that was the case, shouldn't we be seeing a Sanders-Kasich matchup right now?

That's a bit of a misleading headline, is it not? Someone forms (or, co-forms) a group called Veteran's For Trump, and suddenly they are a "Trump Co-Chair"?

It's a national group with chapters in different states, so it's not just three guys named Cletus and their old dawg. I don't know whether Trump coordinates with them, though, so that is a fair criticism.

They seem delightful. One of the Branch Dildoians runs another one, and a third has a white supremacist.

It's as if somebody set out to deliberately cover all the deplorable bases. All they need is a fundy insisting on a woman's obedience to her husband to run the table of dou-che baggery.

DNC machine > media

Solves it for one side there, sparky. ;)

Whenever I read a story about all the armchair Clinton health analysis going on, I'm reminded of a conversation I had with a good friend of mine about WebMD. He said that he absolutely forbids himself from going to that site. If you spend an afternoon reading through descriptions of various maladies, you will develop this moral certainty that you suffer from all of them.

... or are sure they'll have a new super-malady named for them.

You're losing your fastball on this issue. Clearly the real story is an attempt by the Clinton campaign to boost her favorability ratings with a made up illness. I think all those Trump rallies you've been attending has taken the edge off. :D "47% moment calling half Trump's supporters racist?" Its more like 67%

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XVII: If debates are great theater, I think this one closes e

It's her "47%" moment and that's the sound bite that'll play.

Except in this case, it's actually true. The longer it stays in the conversation, the more it serves to remind just how awful the people that helped elevate Trump to his position are. The longer the story sticks, the more the Trump campaign will have to defend those deplorable people. Who do you think it helped when Mike Pence went on CNN this afternoon and was asked point blank if David Duke was a bad person, and Pence couldn't say yes?

Deep down, you know as much as anyone that what Hillary said is absolutely true and those people are disgusting. That's why for every 25-30 concern trolling posts about Hillary, you have to mix in one to remind us that you're actually voting for the third place contestant on Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, which nobody buys.

... and those people are disgusting.

There'll always be the next "those people", be they Arian skinheads or Black Panther Party as long as folk try to put people into ... baskets.

If Mr. Trump had come out and said similar of the other bloc (Black Panther, LaRaza, BLM, CAIR, etc, etc) folks would be all a-tizzy. Instead, folks are trying to excuse a candidate for demagoguery enforcing the stereotypes her base holds. (Yes, there is some portion of truth to every stereotype.)

Honestly, I think Mrs. Clinton forgot that media was there. Most of her other recent events have not had the cameras running.

Otherwise, if this was a planned strategy by the Clinton campaign to shine this issue, well, she messed it up with one step off a curb.

Believe he has. The Muslims, the raping, killing Mexicans, etc. Only his crap is pure bullchit, and you know damm well Hillary ain't far off in her assessment of Trump's backers. White supremacists, xenophobes, that guy from Breitbart he's got running his campaign, and the other guy he just hired, David Duke, just run down the list. And these are people at the top of the campaign, what do you think the rabble look like?

I'll keep that excellent false equivalency in mind next time I see a BLM member photoshop a picture of a Jewish person into a gas chamber with Hillary flipping the switch.

If you say those people are always around, where were they in 2012 or 2008, or any right wing campaign since George Wallace? You can try to brush them off as just a few rare exceptions, but we all know that's not the case, and we all know their voice is being amplified to dangerous levels thanks to Trump.

Just not sure Trump is the right guy to capture a "the torch has been passed to a new generation" argument. Not only is he a year older than Hillary, he's also wearing a bleached skunk on top of his head. :D
