Any white male put off from voting for Hillary ain't gonna change his mind no matter who she picks for veep. She could choose the ghost of Ronnie Raygun, and they'd still vote against her because...........Hillary.

Might as well try to build a base for the future and lock up those Bernie progressive voters for years to come.

Dems would never vote for another Bush. GOPs will not vote for another Clinton.

Too bad all old white males can't be like kepler, he hates her yet he will still vote for her

For VP Franken, Hickenlooper, or Merkley I'd say. Warren too important in the Senate. Sherrod Brown = GOP takeover of the seat. Tim Kaine would be a "I've already got this wrapped up" pick.

White males with a college education are 50/50 on her. White males without a college education all hate her.

But I did hate her once. I hate her now a lot less than I did a year ago. Partly that may be rationalization (if you can't get out of it, get into it). Partly it may be by comparison with the skin boil that is the Republican opponent. But partly it's because everything she's said and done on the trail so far has essentially been pitched towards me, and I'm not immune to that. If she's going to govern as a liberal because she's a weather vane and that's the way the country is going, that's perfectly fine by me.

She has moved from Anathema to Tolerable if Supervised by a Real Liberal.

Kep will vote (D). I'm not sure if he'd pull the lever for Jesse Jackson, but I think he'd really think about it. :)

I loved Jesse. You have to go a lot lower, down into Charlie Rangel territory.

I guess you would have to define who you include as Dems and GOPs. I don't think many Dems who would not vote for another Bush, regardless of opponent, would have voted for HWB, and I think the same is true of GOPs who would not vote for Hlll regardless of opponent. Fortunately, most of us recognize that it is a balancing of two measures, not just the taking of one.

GOPs must have been terrified of Bill to have spent so much time and money pursuing every conceivable and imagined offense. On the other hand, I don't think Dems took GW very seriously until it became clear that he was going into Iraq come hell or high water.

We had a preview of Dubya with the Florida Coup, but after 9/11 we gave him a chance. When it became obvious Cheney was just using it as a pretext for everything he wanted to do anyway (tax breaks for his friends, invade Iraq to kill Saddam and distribute the oil leases to his friends as spoils) he lost all credibility.

I cant believe i am saying this, but I think she should take Franken. He is a liberal voice that is well respected and if he leaves the Senate chances are Minnesota replaces him with another Dem.

I love Franken, but does his skill set translate that well to VP? I just don't think it would be wise putting a (former) entertainer on the ballot when you're biggest line of attack on Trump's credibility is that he's an entertainer.

Now, most of us can understand the nuance of being an entertainer like Franken with an proven track record in the Senate and the Cheeto Jesus, but I'm not confident about the rest of America.

That, and like Warren, if you want to push a liberal agenda, you need people like them on the front lines running the show.

I like a Franken pick. But its difficult to find somebody to shore up Hillary's weaknesses. She's one of the few candidates in some time that doesn't have any policy holes.

Watching the libertarian town hall. Seems to me that Weld should be the one at the top of the ticket.

There are far bigger issues to hit Trump on than him being a reality TV star.

Gary Johnson is as much of a "libertarian" as Trump is a "conservative". Hits the mark on a few key issues (anti-immigration/nativism for Trump, ALL THE POT 420 for Johnson), but otherwise he's the establishment. Also, he has all the charisma of Hillary (read: virtually none).

I dont think the comedian thing will harm a Franken VP nom at all. He has been around long enough and been public enough with his work in the Senate that most people will ignore it. He is going to be VP not President. The only people who would take issue with him would be the people not voting for Hillary anyways. (and who are they to talk, they cursed us with Palin) Plus he can dish it out as good as he can take it, hell he would make the campaign a lot of fun!

And unlike Warren, Franken can be replaced. Warren is the face of the Progressive Movement (and Wall Street Reform) alongside Bernie her place is in the Senate out in front of the issues. Minnesota has plenty of liberals that will be able to beat whatever shlub the MNGOP puts up to take Franken's place so while a D vote is crucial on the front lines that will most likely come anyways.

The thing is, Franken is the best of both worlds. He is a big time Clintonista supporter who is also very much to the left of her on many issues. He is a great speaker and very relate-able and he has the quick wit to help Hillary continue to strike blows at Drumpf and his stupidity. (he was a comedy writer after all) The guy could do more for Hillary and her image than anyone I do believe.

I dont think he will get it mind you, but if he did I think it would be a home run.

Given the current state of the Congre$$, why would you want to remove one of its more effective members for an unknown?

I agree with others. Find a term limited governor who needs a "promotion".

Of course, this presupposes a Clinton win in November. :)

Because a candidate like Franken has the potential, I did say potential, for much greater things. Most governors who need a promotion...don't.

Jerry Brown! ;)

A guy like Franken ought to shore up Hillary with the uber-liberal activists upset with her candidacy (well, that and having Trump as the GOP nominee). As somebody brought up though Hillary is a different sort of candidate in that there's not much policy wise or geographically that you'd need a VP to help out with. This hasn't happened at least since Bush Senior ran, and hopefully this VP choice goes better than that one.

And maybe I don't know Warren well enough. But it seems to me Franken is a bit more clever and positive. Warren just seems more scathing.
