Huh. I noticed how you conveniently forgot to include the ;) that I put in my post after my Nader line! Why is that Kep?

Yes, because I play those games all the time.

I think your constant drumbeat of "Little Ralphie Nader" references has earned the right to be taken as your actual position, regardless of what punctuation you put on it. We've heard it so many times before, I was just asking you to give it a rest already, given that you yourself are seeming now to acknowledge it's irrelevant to this election.

I was making light of the fact that I was bringing him up. Are you channeling Fishy today? Lighten up, Francis! :D

With the GOP you get the armored car when you're nominated -- it's less important have a good personal body guard because the party has contracted with mercs anyway.

Point taken though that Hillary is going to bring atomic weapons to a knife fight, which is usually the Republican game, and so their candidate can't be a Palinesque drama queen who can't take it even when they are dishing it out. That eliminates Cruz, Trump, Christie, Fiorina, and Santorum as cry-babies and/or mentally unstable bombasts. None of them except Cruz had any shot anyway, but it should also DQ them for Veep, which ruins Fiorina's gambit banking on her plumbing.

I'd say Bush should be able to see what's coming (despite his Iraq War flub, frankly there's no easy answer for him on that because he's going to own his brother's war). I also believe pundidiotry likes to wet themselves over having a Bush run for Prez so he's got that going for him. Rubio is a blank slate as far as I can tell. He like the rest of the field is taking positions unpopular with the rest of the country, but I'm curious if he can sell it. Walker is going to get killed on the economic performance of his state. All that strife for what? Everyone's better off moving to Minnesota from Wisconsin.

Did you notice Cruz backing Trump this weekend? Tactically brilliant! Trump is saying what the base believes. Trump will get crucified because of it, but he supporters (10% of the base in most polls) need a home to go to once he pulls the plug on his circus. Cruz positioned himself well to inherit them.

Don't both Hillary and Carly both have plumbing issues? Or is because one is hooked up to well water and the other to the municipal water works?

I think Cruz just recognizes a kindred hustler. Heretofore all the Republicans not named "Bush" were just grifting hobbyists, but Cruz and Trump are adepts. The GOP Freak Show is like any freak show -- at the core, it's about ripping off the rubes.

I know I introduced this metaphor, but that imagery just pushed the NOPENOPENOPE meter to 11. Well played. :)

Yep. Keep dismissing the obvious for the lunatics.

All the street cred and none of the baggage. One man gets it done on guns, unions, and abortion.

Walker is nothing but baggage when it comes to his record, but it's baggage that will be red meat in the primaries.

Not in the general, though. If he ever had a shot it was in pre-2006 America. The bulk of the citizenry don't want a Kochian economy anymore. They know where that leads.

Yeah and a tanking economy, businesses leaving and education levels plummeting. Here is hoping he is the choice Hillary could be caught redhanded with an underage girl while Bill stole money, killed a puppy and ****ed on the Washington Monument and she would win. Walker is a less buff Paul Ryan with half the charisma.

Gotta agree with the witty and scholarly Handyman on this one. Walker is going to get eaten alive by the Clinton Slime Machine. He would have been great against a stiff like Kerry but Hillary is going to stay above the fray while her team drags him into a back alley and delivers a severe beating. Crappy job growth in your state is a killer when it comes to running for Prez. Makes me wonder why Christie and Jindal even bothered. Was Brownback too busy to run or something? :D

1948. Remember that mortal locks sometimes lose.

Of course, it was a different electorate back then.

Not that much of a history expert. Yet...even though a primary, I don't know that Dewey was as much of a favorite to win the presidency as Clinton is to win the nomination. Also, there just aren't any other candidates except Sanders...and regardless of one's admiration of his policies, he'd the most leftist presidential candidate we've had in generations (?). There's an extremely clear path to the nomination...not the presidency though.

Folks, do you wonder if what "The Donald" dares say strikes a chord with people who feel that they daren't say anything in this "nail that sticks out shall be hammered" world.

Everyone else is so manufactured, so handled.

The Donald says what's on his (I'll save some of you the trouble ... alleged) mind. I suspect many find it refreshing, and quietly cheer him on.

I don't wonder about that at all. I think Trump is saying exactly how the majority of conservatives feel about immigration. His poll numbers in the primary should only rise because of it. And that's where the problem lies for his fellow candidates. Put him on a debate stage and he either stakes out a position that everybody else is to the left to, or they all have to run in his direction and hope Hispanics voting in the general election don't mind being called rapists and murderers. Recall in 2012 the absolutism about the budget, and how no candidate would raise taxes by a dollar in exchange for 10 dollars of spending cuts. They looked like total idiots. I realize the party is trying to avoid a confrontation like this by having its debates on Fox, but the immigration question is going to come up, and aside from Calgary Ted the rest will either have to change positions to conform to Trump or look like flaming librals in front of a rabid conservative audience.

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

I wonder if The Donald is more in touch with the electorate on immigration than the rest of (both) fields?

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

Maybe in Arizona, but I doubt he is even close to the majority of the electorate on the issue.
