Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

Folks, do you wonder if what "The Donald" dares say strikes a chord with people who feel that they daren't say anything in this "nail that sticks out shall be hammered" world.

Trump's messages are every bit as focus group tested as the rest. He's cutting through the clutter by saying deliberately provocative stuff. That's just another fake play.

The funny thing is if it came from one of the other candidates it might actually be authentic, but Trump is an east coast elite who despises middle America. This is just another way for him to plaster his name on another property, laughingly called "sincerity."

The Actor will never be surpassed as the master of this, but The Bankrupt is media savvy and has built his entire trash empire on saying ridiculous stuff to make page one of the Post. It's offensive (to me at least) that he's using the democratic process now the way he used real estate and reality TV in the past, but voters get what they deserve.

True enough. "The Donald" has to have handlers too.

If what's he's saying, despite being outrageous, is where the base of the party is that he's running to be the nominee of, who are we to judge!?! Pundidiotry will state as fact that the GOP knows it needs to moderate on social issues, but nobody told the actual people who vote in their primaries that. Conservatives don't want reheated mushy moderate swill that Jebbers is serving up. Those debates could be fascinating.

I don't wonder about that at all. I think Trump is saying exactly how the majority of conservatives feel about immigration.

Mexicans Need Not Apply!*

*Seriously, we prefer hiring you under the table for less than minimum wage, and paperwork just mucks up that relationship

You know, we have these for-profit prisons that are overflowing; I'm surprised they aren't used for hard manual labour. It's not against the 13th amendment, after all.

Going to be funny though when the numbers come out about how many illegals he actually employs at his golf courses and other properties.

It will, though I'm sure Trump has no more idea of the day-to-day management of "his" properties than the Walton family has of what brand of cat food their employees are forced to eat.

Interesting ploy by the Donald.

My bet is that he is in the nomination process for the side benefits. As in, financial and publicity. In theory, he should be able to cash it in for big dollars later in some fashion. Interestingly in a ploy to be outrageous (getting more press), he has hurt his own economic interests. Even so, I think this will end up being a plus for him...i.e., two steps forward, one step back.

Whatever he's doing, it's working.

I just enjoy seeing "The Donald" putting everyone's knickers in a twist. :D

Believe me...both the right and the left do as well. Moderates are running for the hills. The Donald and recent positive outcomes for Obama are starting to give the advantage to Clinton (when she runs against Jeb).

Man that's sad. Its amazing just how extremely differently WI and MN are approaching things. The stadium vote, which had some wondering why we were spending money, went through. As a result, we're keeping the Vikings, bringing in other national events, renovating the entire east side of Minneapolis, and creating a direct and indirect driver for corporate investment. Couple this with the expansion of the light rail and the building blocks are there for even more real growth. The city (and region) are on one heckava roll. Meanwhile, Wisconsin is turning into a wasteland. Although defunding UW is the right thing ;).
