I'm not a fan of judging a man by his brother (remember Roger Clinton?) Jeb should be judged by his own personal ignorance and flipfloppiness, not someone else's. :p

Dubya was a moron who was manipulated by evil men to do evil things. Jeb is wrongheaded and would do evil things on his own. Still... that is a difference.

According to everyone around here she's a lock and no way a Repub wins. I bet she loses again and it's her fault just like in '08.

And according to you Walker "Is a lock" and "Mitt was gonna win" in '08.

Walker was a lock for the nomination. Not anymore. If I said Mitt was going to win in '08, then I agree I was a complete moron. I don't think I said that though.

Its possible if you want to completely change your living habits. But I doubt people want that so tell me how she is going to generate 1.4 trillion kwh from solar and wind in 10 years http://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=96&t=3

There's been a lot of math around here saying solar will never have any impact. Hillary has the best and the brightest backing her up and would never take a stance if it was ridiculously infeasible...and so I have no doubt that she knows what she's talking about. From what I've been reading (Fortune and conservative Washington Examiner), its definitely not guaranteed...but she's got a good shot at it. In the end, just getting close to the goal would be a seachange in the direction of the country on many fronts.

Not sure how retrofit would work but I always thought that some modern housing developments could be built with solar panels that generate electricity and send it back to the power company for a savings for the consumer. Any gains made there would be a step in the right direction if feasible.

Take it from scooby, its simple math, 32, 300watt LG panels on my roof will produce approx 1100 kwh a year. thats a 9600 watt array. it covers a space 34 ft long by almost 16 feet wide. So how many of those installs do you need to get to 1.4 trillion KWH?

Thats a grid tied system, thats what most folks are installing. The problem is the remaining grid, who pays for the usage of the grid in that case? How do you ramp up power when the sun doesn't shine and how do you turn down when the sun does shine. Right now in Maine, the power companies have to buy any solar at residential rates. They make no mention of the actual maintenance of lines, poles etc.

Well, I figure they have to use something other than solar for the ramp ups. I'm not an idiot. I just think supplementing it would be an awesome way to reduce carbon use. I would think the consumer would have a reduced rate paid back to them for the maintenance of the equipment then of course pay any "boost" costs involved via natural gas / coal / whatever.

The power company has to make something.

I agree the power company has to make something, that has the potential to put the payout of a solar system beyond its useful life.

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

Still don't think Clinton is as dominant as she appears to be. When Bush gets the nomination, things will be close. Q polls have three battle states, CO, IA, VA, with Bush over Clinton.

HA! I was waiting for some nervous nellie to cite those polls. The Q poll of CO had the candidate with the highest net favorable rating as....Ben Carson! Lets just say if the electorate that shows up in Nov of 2016 feels more positively about Ben Carson than anybody else, FDR would have trouble winning that election. :D Most likely this poll was taken to drive traffic to Qunnipiac's website, which worked in this case. ;)

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

I'm still waiting for the GOP to fold and disappear like some around here have been saying for years now.

We aren't making any new old angry white guys! However, if you get outvoted in 6 out of 7 Presidential elections after next year, that's not a good place to be...

I seem to be getting angrier by the year...

:D

Really? Do the panels have a shelf life? I thought they had pretty much no moving parts and would last for a long long time.

:D

Got that right. I may be moving over to that side sooner rather than later.

Angry old moderates will be the new Freepers in another decade or two? :p

Their output degrades over time. No moving parts until you consider what the hot and cold cycles do to the panels.Electrical connections can break because of the cycles.

Aaaah, yuck. I see what you're saying.

Yeah, the sun really heats them up. It's beat to keep them under cover if you want them to last. No, wait....

Yeah, how brave of her to make a promise about something 10 years from now. How about 50% by the end of her first term or she doesn't run again?

First candidate to publicly announce they're repealing the Chicken Tax gets my full support.
