It gets worse every day. :(

You've got a loooooooooooooong way to go until you reach Bob McDonnell territory. :p

At this point, the RNC should change its theme song to Yakety Sax.

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

telegraph.co.uk has live coverage of the Edinburgh count.

From their coverage of US coverage of the vote:

The knife edge vote seems to be getting a bit much for CNN or at least its graphics department. Viewers have been told that 52 per cent of voters will vote no and 58 per cent will vote yes. Clearly both sides are giving 110 per cent in the last few hours of voting.

BTW, I am pretty sure that the Edinburgh count is being held in a curling arena.

Also, it has to be the whitest place this side of a Utah GOP rally.

SCOK rules Taylor's name must be removed from the ballot. GOP SecState has a sad.

The heart of their controversy is whether Taylor's September 3, 2014, letter to Kobach requesting that his name be withdrawn from nomination for election complies with the requirements for withdrawal set forth in K.S.A. 25-306b(b). We hold that it does.

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

I really really hate the election ads up here. Even when I watch a video on YouTube, up pops :15 of "Mark Begich voted with Barack Obama 97% of the time!" (Nevermind he voted with him 0% of the because the President doesn't vote in the Senate, you know, "facts")

AdBlock Plus is your friend.

So the decision turns entirely on the inclusion of the phrase "pursuant to K.S.A. 25-306b(b)". Boilerplate legalese saves the day (or ruins it, depending on your perspective).

Looks like Scotland will remain part of the UK.

Can the SNP be strung up for treason?

They can go back to the Scottish voters and show them the "goodies bag" they got. Win/win for them.

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

I have no idea why I wanted Scotland to stay part of the UK. But I did. It would be weird if it wasn't.

Waaaaaaay too early to make that call, only 4 of 32 reporting right now.

It's interesting watching the BBC coverage because there are politicians openly saying, if the vote is no, that there needs to be a Constitutional Convention. A lot of talk that UK politics is going to undergo a fundamental change.

Very few of the actual total has come in though. No, Glasgow , Aberdeen, or Edinburgh. Nobody on the BBC is even close to making a call.
Dundee (which, IIRC, used to be Churchill's constituency) returns first yes vote 57-43. Turnout has been around 87%.

Maybe we should register for each election, rather than one and done?? Maybe the turnout would be (artificially) higher??

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

Dundee goes rather easily for Yes.

Totals down to 6k

They need to hit a home run in Glasgow.

I'd love to see the Yes/No breakdown by Age & Sex.

Midlothian is coming in. went no by 7K votes.

Re: Campaign 2014: The Epic Struggle To Win The Senate And Change Nothing

How do they get so many rejected votes for one bloody question? Florida voting?
