Business, Economics & Tax Policy 6.0: Nope, it only found woven strands

Annex Canada.
Personally, let's annex Mexico.

This gets you the benefit of US based businesses already there (thanks to manufacturing). And control of the drug trade (no border walls to cross when you own both sides).

And, I'm sure some shady lax rules could be written where they're exempted for xx years from OSHA, minimum wages, and other standards all in the name of "transitioning to new federal rules."

:D

I still can't get over the fact that I have a friend who just thinks all these studies are flawed because ~reasons~.

not flawed. just sloppy.

people who do work for actual industry and make money do solid work (at times). people who work for gov'ment or such can be sloppy and generalize (more often than not). probably because they have crappy solid data to work with and have to make crazy assumptions, but still it is what it is.

This is garbage. There's plenty of sh-t work in industry and plenty of great work in government. Having spent time in all three sectors my ranking of the intelligence of the self-selected populated is:

1. Academia
(huge gap)
2. Federal government
3. Business

I can't speak for state government.

Annex Canada

Why would you want to ruin Canada? Or are you hoping that by making them the most populous state (after you break up California), that they will have a positive influence on the American idiocracy?

Texas is still more populous, and there are a lot of dumb Canadians in Manitoba and Alberta, but yes, on balance it would smarten us up a bit.

Plus I want to see the slave states blow a gasket over Quebec.

More proof the Republicans are idiots.

There has been some debate about whether the bill might actually hurt tech giants in the long run, because it introduces a 10.5 percent tax on future foreign profits, thus reducing some of the benefits of the offshore accounting wizardry these companies have engaged in over the last decade.

But Gabriel Zucman, who studies taxes and inequality at the University of California, Berkeley, pointed out that the 10.5 percent rate would still be much lower than the rate paid by potential start-up rivals that mostly make their money in the United States (the corporate tax rate on domestic earnings in the new bill is 21 percent). This difference, Mr. Zucman said, “creates an uneven playing field, where big monopolies will pay lower taxes than new entrants, which could reduce innovation.”

I think someone is making crazy assumptions and it's not the numerous people who have studied that particular subject ;)

Every study on the subject has been replicated and came up with the same findings. And the studies weren't only done by the government to my knowledge.

So, I remember Big Banks being responsible for the collapse in '08.

Wells Fargo in 2016 was fined $185 million for issuing millions of fake credit card accounts. In 2017, it was caught overcharging clients on currency trades and improperly charging homebuyers to lock into low mortgage rates.

And in 2018, it could be about to get the best tax deal of all the big banks.

The Republican tax bill, which seeks to lower the corporate tax rate to 21 percent from 35 percent, would lead to an average 14 percent in earnings growth for seven of America’s largest banks next year, according to a Monday note from Goldman Sachs analyzing the plan’s implications. (Goldman does not include itself in its analysis.) The biggest winner: Wells Fargo, which would see its earnings jump by 18 percent thanks to the GOP proposal.

And wasn't Wells Fargo just caught cheating their customers? Me, being one of them? Wow.

Cheating the customers is why those fines were levied. The company had to pay restitution to each of its impacted clients, pay the fines (multiple sets), fired its head of Community Banking, its CEO, and then their top three currency traders quit just when they found out their group was being audited, and before they could be found culpable and fired, according to the Pioneer Press a couple months ago.

Canada has like 9 million more people than Texas

That's not the point. The point is the tax break gives them 18% in earnings. Middle class tax break is about 2.5%. See the problem?

but....

the middle class will get all that WF earning in dividends!!! at lower taxable rates now!!!

Uh. You just quoted yourself to debunk... um...?

I think you made an error somewhere. :-)
