Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

Trying. But it is unnerving.

The plan I have going forward is to buy things in person when possible. I can control whether to go to a local place or a chain. I have to build in the annoyance of going out to the cost. I hope this will help.

It would be wonderful to bring down the billionaires, but it won't happen without action.

The problem is that while Amazon is shitty so are all of them. Target, Walmart, etc

So trying to quit them means paying not just 10% more, it's going to be closer to 40-50% more. I don't think that's feasible. Even for our family.

We shop at Costco as much as possible, but people shouldn't confuse their good pay, DEI, etc as something they do because it's good. They do it because it extracts the most money out of you. If they thought this wasn't profitable, they'd change tomorrow.

This includes the small businesses that people think are good. They're probably not either. Take Duluth Pack. Well known, highly regarded brand out of extremely liberal Duluth. Their now former owner was a complete chud. So even finding good local businesses is going to be hard because most don't wear their politics on their sleeve.

You're better off taking the money you save and putting it towards liberal causes.

Look there is no way to be pure...how many sites run on AWS for example? How many plan on dropping their Visa cards? It's not possible.

If everyone cutes say, 20%, from their Amazon spending that is a start. We don't need to cut it all completely we need to start by rationing where we can.

In other news what excuse will Trump use to not implement the steel and aluminum tariffs? No way he can keep them...

Dems love their purity tests lol

I completely agree. It’s not feasible to do this 100% of the time

So the Jack Daniel's / Province of Ontario spat was curious to me. Ontario yanked all American liquor, beer, and wine from their shelves. Why then was the Tennessee company speaking out both sides of their mouth on this issue? They whined that Ontario pulling their products would hurt the company, but then said Canada was only 1% of sales, the Euro market would hold them. Shouldn't they have already been paid for that product? At least that's what I assumed.

Turns out, the Liquor board of Ontario doesn't pay for the imported alcohol until it's sold. Essentially, Jack Daniel's is on consignment. That's why the product was removed from the shelves and boxed up.

Yeah I was wondering that too but figured that was the case otherwise it is just a waste.

The Euro market is about to dry up too but I am not sure that will hurt right away.

I know it can't truly happen just because of how ungodly rich he is, but is Muskrat gonna be just the latest in a long line of people who have ruined their lives and reputations by aligning themselves with Trump?

Rudy, Mike Lindell, Herman Cain(literally), a whole bunch of lesser underlings, all those J6ers, etc.

He uses Tesla as collateral a lot (for example in the Xitter buyout) and I believe the price has been propped up for years by his investment buddies and foreign leaders for various reasons. Tesla I believe is the only "profitable" company he has (or had now that Trump is just giving him our tax money) so while he would ultimately survive a Tesla crash would put him in serious trouble. He will still be able to buy up a lot of stuff wholesale though as part of the plan...

(13.44% as of this message)

He and Trump are killing the market with their actions. Down down 700, NASDAQ the same (4%!) and S&P is down over 2.5%. When the Government shuts down Friday (Dems said they are voting no on the CR) this could get real ugly.

According to my SO Twitter was also down completely for a while.

And Jack Daniels had already laid off 650 employees, 12% of their workforce, back in January.

Yeah I remember the same guy who was laying everyone off and is whining now was writing letters of support on behalf of all the whiskey makers to Trump so they can F off and die. Jack Daniels is mediocre anyways.
