Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

My wife was informed this morning that her job is being eliminated, and she'll be laid off effective 2/14 with 11 weeks of severance. She's a Medicaid care coordinator for a large insurance company. As she predicted in the aftermath of the election, they're preemptively laying off people in her role & department in anticipation of the ACA getting repealed.

I see. So what are they replacing it with?

Medicaid is about the only thing that stands between death and the people enrolled in it. Let them die is certainly a valid policy position though. Sorry she lost her job.

"Fuck the poor!" is the Republican motto. On the plus side, she'll no longer work for a dirtbag insurance company and can pursue a job she's less miserable in.

I mean they already said old people should die for the economy during COVID...why not the poor as well?

I saw a clip of Scott Galloway (who is quite often a POS) who is a business professor at NYU on Morning Joe and even he is like "yeah what we are doing is not sustainable, if we don't start taxing the rich and fast bad things are in our future". Was basically saying the stuff we are seeing like BLM, Luigi Mangione and such are revolutions which are the direct results of our tax policies destroying everyone except the ultra rich and that if we dont do something society will fail.

When the people who teach dbag MBA students is saying "hey guys the businesses are getting too big and too much power" we have officially crossed the Rubicon.

If the revolution started today, me and my immediate biological family would definitely be sent to the firing squad for owning too many assets. My wife grew up in a trailer park raised by a union dad, and is pretty much a dyed-in-the-wool socialist - she might leave me and talk her way into the mobs. :p

Condolences to your wife F2B&G, hopefully she lands a replacement job quickly and here's to the better mental health with not having to deal with a sh*tty job.

My wife is currently just rolling with things in the assisted living side, but fears there will be cuts coming because of the same forecast.

I think the Revolution will be too busy going after the clowns sitting next to Trump at the Inauguration ;)

My SO has this weird feeling that something bad is going to happen at the Inauguration...who is the Kiefer Sutherland of the Trump crowd? ;)

Honestly, this is a good question and I'm probably on some NSA watch list after various Google search terms, but it seems that it's dependent on which of his cabinet gets approved by congress. And the obvious answer would be whichever is the first Democrat not being swapped out in the succession list.

It's only a matter of time...

Luigi was the first strike on the flint that showed there is a TON of tinder beneath it where the sparks fall. With Luigi, none of those sparks caught, but it was pretty damn obvious that sooner or later things will ignite if we keep trying.

Now it's just a question of which act will provide that magical spark...

Here I am, not sure what you guys are inferring because I have no idea what kiefer show or movie you’re referencing

Can anyone sum up for me how this relates to the inauguration?

Keifer's character was a cabinet position well down the line of presidential succession (Housing and Urban Development I believe). He drew short straw and was sent somewhere outside of DC for the State of the Union Address. Theory being that if something happened at the SotU Address, the entire line of succession was there.

Well, an explosion took out Capitol Hill and Keifer was the lone man left standing and had to take over the Presidency.

I dunno...check out the comment section of most right wing media the non bots are on Luigis side and are getting angry that Elmo, Bezos and Zuck the Cuck are calling the shots. I think a small fire lit up and if the Santa Anas come around (killing the ACA for example) it could spread faster than the GOP can control it. That is why, if they were smart they would avoid hot button issues until after the Midterms.

But these guys are morons so...

Oh so that’s why Michelle Obama isn’t attending!!

/s everyone seems to be forgetting her mother just died

I never watched the show myself but if ever there was a time to strike Monday would be it if you want to end MAGA. Hell it would likely end the Democrats as we know them as well. It would be short term chaos but with good potential...if only God existed.
