Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

Maybe he just read that book and decided to shoot the exec?

I wondered about this, also. Did the guy just get wound up after reading the book?

Whatever the motivation was, this was so meticulously planned, so meticulously executed, that it had to be one heck of a motivating factor.

I have seen people say that the Comments on social media are universally on the side of the shooter, regardless of the political orientation of the site.

When these comments first started flying in, someone did a quick research on them, looking into the people leaving comments based on their social media presence, to see what type of people they were.

He found they were equally split between Democrat and Republican, far left progressives and far right MAGAts, even some Libertarians. This has truly been one topic which has been completely bipartisan and unified the country.

People are tired of the wealthy and powerful fukking them over. That's one of the reasons they voted for Trump.

Not sure what they think he and his cabinet of billionaires is gonna do to stop that, but hey, gotta have a dream. Maybe when they figure out he's just fukking them over just as bad, they finally start waking up.

But before that happens, I think you're gonna see a lot more of incidents like this. People want to be heard. They're quickly running out of ways for that to happen. If this is the only way they can be, well.........

Yeah, they voted for someone who fucks over people almost as much as Elon who he is hiring to fuck them over.

People are stupid.

I question whether this was the effect. When BCBS announced this, CT and NY governors immediately jumped all over BCBS, before the killing. CT flat out said they will not allow this. NY said they were going to look into this and challenge BCBS. (Remember, this policy was only for the Anthem version of BCBS, which only supports CT, NY, and MO.)

If it was due to regulatory pressure, BCBS' statement about how the reversal was due to "significant widespread misinformation" about it rings completely hollow and only makes sense coming from a place of fear. I'm sure it's just coincidental that it happened just 2 days after the UHC CEO was killed, though.

Looks like things are about to get interesting. 27 year old picked up in Altoona, PA, with a backpack full of fake id's, including one which police believe may have been used by the shooter, along with a silencer similar to the one involved.

I’m not sure if you’re referring to “internet sleuths sit out investigation” or the murder of the executive when you refer to “this,” so I’ll give you both.

The sleuths are basically frauds, at least in terms of any real detective work. They are “finding” middle aged housewives who have seen fit to display their entire lives on social media, before getting filmed spewing some racist rant. “Finding” them is like “finding” a twenty year old on TikTok.

Second, you might believe they haven’t searched for the shooter, but I don’t. No chance. They might be even privately telling themselves that they won’t divulge the name, but I’m not sure I even believe that. They haven’t found this guy because he took a lot of steps to actually conceal his identity, and see #1 above.

With respect to the shooting, the health insurance/claims payment/benefits management system in this country is a complete cluster$&@$. I don’t know the answer and neither do you. But I do know shooting someone in the back on the streets of NYC is not the answer. The schadenfreude so many here and around the country have enjoyed from this, the “well, I guess he got his,” isn’t surprising to (we saw people celebrating thousands of covid deaths, after all), but is instead sort of a reaffirmation of the lack of humanity in people.

MAGA's faux umbrage about any kind of, "lack of humanity" started falling on deaf ears the minute they started fluffing for the biggest POS to ever command the Oval Office. The "fuk your feelings" crowd is in NO position to cry foul about anything ever again. The Fifth Avenue Posse has no bargaining chip. No entry to the ivory tower. Do not pass Go and welcome to jail.

Now I on the other hand feel comfortable condemning the notion that it's perfectly ok for people to become vigilantes. There's a reason every movie about a hired gun results in the protaganist questioning for the first time whether or not their endeavors are justified. Sorry I just can't get on board with that sentiment but I fully understand it.

They used that same quote trying to defend their decision when NY and CT immediately pushed back on it, before they decided to back down. It's just PR BS.

The Right Wingers applauding this literally voted for a guy who has been doing (and advocating for) the same thing for decades only in different sectors.

You are smarter than this...it is blatant PR spin and there is no way it has anything to do with the killing. ITs way too quick a reversal.

Of course it's PR spin. But there's good PR spin and piss poor PR spin, and this was definitely the latter. Good spin is at least plausible.

Central Pennsylvania just can't keep itself from f*cking things up for the rest of the country. Argh!

Obviously, it's a Christmas Miracle they were able to find this guy without the assistance of "Clyrissa from Danbury" and all of her associate sleuths.

Private School kid whose folks paid $40,000/year for tuition. Undergrad and Masters from an Ivy (Penn). And he had a manifesto!! Plus, he left a four star review of the Unabomber's manifesto.

Perfect.

They just happened to find him with a manifesto, a gun of the same type as the murder, and a fake ID.

Found.

Riiiiiiiiiigggggghhhhhhhttttttt…

Rich people killing rich people? I’m all for it! Kill kill kill the white man. Kill him until he is dead.
Celebrity Deathmatch was fun to watch as a kid. I think we should bring that back, with real people, during Trump’s term. At least we’ll get to see Hovey again, so he can remind us we aren’t morally perfect. I’ll chip in for a new tall (high?) horse for you for Christmas, Hovey!

Big fan of Tucker Carlson too. Can't believe you left that out.
