Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

Hurr derr, libs are so woke.

Seriously, that's what you're taking away from this?

Let me guess, in Robin Hood you root for the Sheriff of Nottingham, don't you?

I’m not sure if you’re referring to “internet sleuths sit out investigation” or the murder of the executive when you refer to “this,” so I’ll give you both.

The sleuths are basically frauds, at least in terms of any real detective work. They are “finding” middle aged housewives who have seen fit to display their entire lives on social media, before getting filmed spewing some racist rant. “Finding” them is like “finding” a twenty year old on TikTok.

Second, you might believe they haven’t searched for the shooter, but I don’t. No chance. They might be even privately telling themselves that they won’t divulge the name, but I’m not sure I even believe that. They haven’t found this guy because he took a lot of steps to actually conceal his identity, and see #1 above.

With respect to the shooting, the health insurance/claims payment/benefits management system in this country is a complete cluster$&@$. I don’t know the answer and neither do you. But I do know shooting someone in the back on the streets of NYC is not the answer. The schadenfreude so many here and around the country have enjoyed from this, the “well, I guess he got his,” isn’t surprising to (we saw people celebrating thousands of covid deaths, after all), but is instead sort of a reaffirmation of the lack of humanity in people.

My humanity died on November 5th. I really don't give a shit how many CEO's get murderated.

I'm not crying for a guy who made $25m a year and you can't get me to. His kids will get therapy and ultimately be fine. Plenty of Americans are raised without fathers and they don't get to benefit from a future trust fund. I'm far more worried about what Trump's policies are going to do to actual friends of mine who aren't filthy rich.

The guy made $25 million a year while condemning people to death by withholding medical care and damaging countless families.

My humanity is just fine.

Oh the inhumanity

When you take away all nonviolent forms of protest (even making protesting illegal), knowing the highest court was sold- people go to their last resort, which is violence

people pretend this movie can have a happy ending but the oligarchs won’t allow it

Yeah, it says more about him suddenly concerned about the reaction to that one death than it says about anyone else.

Also, "celebrating" Covid deaths? I assume this is in reference to having no sympathy for those who died of the disease after making it loudly known that they weren't going to get vaccinated, and all the rest of the bullshit they spouted about Covid and vaccines? That's not "celebrating" That's just no longer feeling the least duty to protect those who won't do the slightest bit to protect themselves. Otherwise known as FAFO.

Why do Hovey and all the rest of these clowns expect The Left to have empathy for them, when they go out of their way to demonstrate they have no empathy for others themselves? You know, "fuk your feelings"

Didn’t you know? They never have to adjust

A couple of points.

First, we don’t even know this guy’s back story. Everyone is taking a few, random facts and filling in a ton of color. What’s the reaction going to be if we find out neither he nor any of his family have been in any sort of significant claims dispute? Maybe he just read that book and decided to shoot the exec?

Second, I don’t think you want to live in a world where every wrong, every grievance, is dealt with at the end of a barrel. Just a personal opinion.

Didn’t say I did either but climbing your way up is a lot harder these days. The after the matter cheering is , I think, a sign of the inequality and desperation

I’ve been saying since Wednesday that this one is real easy to pin on a member. But I’m keeping my conspiracy theories off here

The list of true non-extradition countries is pretty dubious though. I also doubt any of the countries who selectively extradite would stand up to our feds for this guy relative to the consequences Cheeto's admin will throw at them.

Oh I don't think that matters...lots of places he could go they would never even come close to finding him if he is willing to live rough for a while. Hell fly to a country in Europe, hope a train and be 5 countries over before they even can confirm you left the country. Fly to South Africa and get 20 minutes away from Capetown and they will never find you.

And again, I do not give a fuck. Barrel, no barrel. Don't fucking care.

I dont think the guy is some folk hero...he is definitely no Robin Hood. But I am not going to sympathize for the CEO of a company that is notorious for how badly they treat the people they are supposed to protect. And I am not going to weep for his family who will never have to a struggle a day in their lives while countless millions did under his watch. Sorry, my empathy for the upper class died when they bent a knee to a fascist and sold us all out.

You don't cheer for Alan Rickman? Is it cause he declared a WAR ON CHRISTMAS!!?!?!?!?!?

Well, that's the world you and your party are bringing to us. We wanted to live by the rule of law, but you guys ain't having none of that. See Jan 6 if you need an example.

I don't think that's accurate. Sure seems to have made BCBS do an immediate about face on their anethesia policy they were about to implement.

Anecdotally, I've heard from several friends in the medical industry that claims are somehow going through with fewer issues over the last week.

Seems like it is at least an answer, even if not the preferred one.

The question is, how long will the fear last? We saw how long it took for those cops that took knees for Floyd to go back to their old ways....00001% chance that in a few weeks BCBS and the rest don't rebound back and probably worse. I am not advocating for more violence but for this to work we need to keep the pressure on.

I question whether this was the effect. When BCBS announced this, CT and NY governors immediately jumped all over BCBS, before the killing. CT flat out said they will not allow this. NY said they were going to look into this and challenge BCBS. (Remember, this policy was only for the Anthem version of BCBS, which only supports CT, NY, and MO.)
