Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

Target cutting prices on more than 2,000 items heading into the holiday season

So, not Biden, shoplifting, or supply chains. Just good old corporate greed.

Target already got caught lying about all that when they closed a bunch of stores because of "retail theft" but the stores they closed were not in any way dealing with such losses. Target has always been trash...I got a lot of grief from locals for pointing out their BS back in the day when they publicly supported LGBTQ+ Rights but were behind the scenes donating to every campaign that fought against it. While I hate the term because it is often misused they were 100% virtue signaling especially in Minnesota. The backlash was abated until the Marriage Equality Bill came around and they were caught redhanded by the media.

Given how the election results look so far tonight, I had been hoping that the House, if luck finally moves in a positive direction might be able to save us from the Agent Orange’s supply tariffs. (I couldn’t recall how they were enacted when he had his snit with Chinese steel and aluminum.)

Get ready for runaway inflation as we get taxed into recession and poverty.

Yeah so at this point im wondering if I should be liquidating all the funds in my Ira and 401 before they become worthless

The domestic markets are surging right now, so I would hold pat in the near future. I’ll keep an ear open on the rhetoric coming from the transitional team, and their simps in Congress. If they’re holding to their campaign promises, then we have some tough times ahead. If they’ve toned it down as people really start to delve into their Project 2025 in the mainstream “news” groups that have mostly ignored it to date. I don’t think many people on the Right, or even in the mushy middle, know about this. Once they get a scent of the economic reality of those plans, that’s when I expect pushback.

There’s not going to be pushback, and if there is they won’t listen to it. They, Dump, Musk, Thiel et al, want the economy to crash so they can buy up the distressed assets on the cheap. Then can start eradicating most of the gains made in workers rights, slash wages, gut health care, gut retirements. Technocratic feudalism, it’s the wave of the future.

Best of all, since they’ll control all the media platforms, they can blame it all on the Democrats and people will buy it.

I'd prefer to skip this and just get to the French Revolution part.

I honestly do not know if this, or losing the supreme court for a generation, or having an anti-vaccine moron head of any health agency, or that we have a president who reasonably could try to have a third term worries me the most.

I mean, the French Revolution ended up with having Napoleon (eventually) so that might not be the best idea.

I think it’s far more likely we end up in a Spanish Civil War scenario, and even that ended with Franco.

This. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would say they're going to use this victory and POTUS' new court-granted immunity as a mandate to turn American representative democracy into an American form of Russia's oligarchy. Trump's done his part by staying alive just long enough to get elected again, now they can prop him up as the public figurehead for however long he can keep up the charade while Vance and the cabinet run the day-to-day. As long as Trump thinks every idea is his and he's ultimately calling the shots, he'll roll with it. If it does ultimately get to the point where Trump is literally drooling on himself, unzips and drops trou on live TV, or whatever, and they obviously have to 25A him, Vance will slither right in and continue rubberstamping everything Thiel and his buddies want to ensure permanent, billionaire minority rule.

It's essentially how Putin came to power in the late 90s, by ingratiating himself with drunk Yeltsin, then chipping away at and manipulating the checks and balances in their current Constitution until he successfully set himself up as President-for-life.

They’ll do all that and then if it looks like they’ll lose reelection they’ll just start a war and ride the coattails. That’s what Thatcher did with the Falklands after completely gutting the UK economy.
