I live far, far too close to the new Tornado Alley for comfort. Having suffered four tornadoes in my area in two years, including a direct hit in 2021, it’s not surprising to see that the alley has moved almost over to me. The only thing I currently find peculiar is our deadly tornado outbreaks occurring mainly in late fall/early winter instead of spring.

They also got hit pretty hard in stock value before that because earnings came in significantly less than expected. That despite them trying to control the narrative by pretending they are going to sell more cars next year.

I've seen one tornado with the naked eye in my life, and that was eleven too many.

Cybertruck is an expensive disaster. I can't imagine that all of Musk's fascist/white supremacist simping in the last year is helping garner new customers either, since EV buyers usually skew left.

Looks even worse with the new F150 EV coming out which looks like...and F150.

I've seen more Rivians on the road than that godawful DeLorean knockoff of Musk's.

When I was 11 I was home alone after baseball practice on a Sunday in July. A wicked storm came through and I watched as a funnel descending from the clouds came closer and closer.

I moved to the basement and sat under a ping pong table as the tornado sirens were going off.

The loudest sounds from outside the house I had ever heard were accompanied by what felt like our house was coming apart.

Our house sits on an extremely wooded 2-acre lot. When it was over I exited to see more downed shit than I have ever in my life and our garage door was in shambles.

Probably the one time in my life that I honestly felt my time was up.

So there were several explicit AI images of Taylor Swift posted online, and she is not happy.
Neither are her fans, who mass flagged the pictures.

Knowing that Swifties could spell the end of the Republican Party and Silicon Valley Tech Bros... refreshing.

One dude openly flaunted he wasn't afraid and got doxxed so badly he had to go private on all accounts and was almost crying about how strong the Swifties are.

UPS announces 12k layoffs as “package volume slipped last quarter”

Wonder if these are full timers or part timers

end of the cnbc article then drops the tidbit “ceo expects to ask workers to return to office full time in 2024”

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2024/01/30/ups-reports-drop-in-package-volume-stock-tumbles.html

I know the economy is humming along but there have been quite a few publicized layoffs this January. Likely a lot of different reasons for this, but I continue to see more and more white collar people unable to get a job quickly (myself included). A few analysts I follow have begun to talk about the white collar job market softness

I’m going to sound like a shill for companies but I do think a lot of them are getting killed with interest expense and it probably limits what they can/want to spend on comp. I wonder as well if some companies have figured out that paying say $150k for a role doesn’t get you any better performance than if you pay $100k. I think it will get tougher before it gets easier for white collar folks.

Likely going to be cuts in management and specialist positions. Probably some people taking early retirement and not having their positions filled, stuff like that.
