Typically it's when the discrepancy in incomes is very large. Happened with my doctor brother/teacher SIL.

This. My SIL has a PhD in genetics and works for the feds. She makes decent, but not great money - could likely be quite a bit more if she had gone private instead of choosing the public sector. My BIL is a stay-at-home dad to their two sons. He does bartend 1-2 nights per week to help them make ends meet, but for the most part he's keeping our nephews (10 and 5, both super-ADHD and likely some degree of ASD) on task/schedule, enforcing their rules, doing the majority of the housework, etc.

Teamsters ratified the contract with UPS.

And of course, there’s one supplemental in Florida that wasn’t and will now hold everything up.

Possibly not the best thread topic but...

Whistleblower to DOJ: You’ve left the door open for more fraud

Sarah Feinberg discovered alleged overbilling by a top government contractor, leading to a $377 million settlement. She says the investigation didn’t go nearly far enough.

Consultants overbilling? ;-)

But if history is any indication, she's on track to be the competent, boring CEO of some marginally evil corporation.

For lack of a better thread I just saw this suggested on another site: the American economy should follow the same rules as Mario Kart. The closer you are to 1st place, the worse the power ups you can get.

To which someone else replied: Blue shell the 1%

A very simple explanation/analogy of how it should really work.

UAW has overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike starting as soon as September 15th.

How overwhelming? 97% voted yes to authorizing a strike.

Whoa. That seems high. Anyone on here know what votes usually come in around?

google says UPS vote was also 97%

The corporate masters thought that labor was going to forget all the struggling they were forced to accept the last decade or so in the name of being good team players. Its about to get ugly for the overlords...

Read some of the press statements by the UAW and quickly picked up that they’re running the exact same playbook we Teamsters just ran against UPS. The practice pickets, strike authorization vote taking place at the factories, the press statements, it’s very similar.

Wow, management usually manages to bribe a few more turncoats than that.

Most likely the bribed just didn't vote. I did no research but I assume the "97%" is just of the votes counted not 97% of all workers. That is partly how the Directors Guild contract went through I think under 50% actually voted.
