Read some of the press statements by the UAW and quickly picked up that they’re running the exact same playbook we Teamsters just ran against UPS. The practice pickets, strike authorization vote taking place at the factories, the press statements, it’s very similar.

And much like UPS the Big Three can't afford a full on strike for a bevy of reasons...

.

They’re far more interested in their belief they can break the union by hiring scabs, even though it’s very apparent they can’t.

That only works when unemployment isn't at record lows...

It amazes me that every one f these corporate leaders whether it is studios, UPS, The Big Three Car Companies, Amazon or whoever seem to be under the misguided belief that the average union worker is too stupid to open up Twitter or Threads or Tik Tock (or use apps like Whatsapp, Signal or just phucking messenger and text) and know what is actually happening in the world outside their bubble. They think the workers don't know the real reason Inflation skyrocketed (corporate greed) and why wages have stagnated (also corporate greed) and that labor will just accept whatever BS story management gives them. Then they have quarterly earnings calls with investors bragging about how much they are making and such and just think no one is ever going to know about it...even though they run to CNBC to make sure its reported to pump up their stock price. Its mindboggling in its stupidity...its like they think it is 1987 and Blue Horsehoe Loves Anacott Steel.

Really? What with Biden running the economy into the ditch and all, I would have thought there’d be 10s of thousands of qualified craftsmen just desperate for work. No?

Priceless' hero Bob Iger is offended that the WGA didn't accept their crappy offer and Netflix's CEO is worried if they agree to pay too much to the writers in the US it will force them to pay more to writers elsewhere. Yes that is real. I would link to the tweets but we can't...

We're getting to a point that exists between 100% automation and 100% labor where scabs are almost less useful than shutting down.

almost.

UPS, and now the Big Three, were profoundly stupid after seeing that their respective unions elected new leaders that campaigned on taking a hardline in negotiations and then were surprised that the unions were demanding more money and threatening strikes.

They are so used to the NLRB, the media, and the Democratic party being fully captured by Wall Street, they cannot wrap their mind around a labor movement that doesn't just automatically give up.

John Deere should have been a wake up call.

Yeah, that was definitely the first battle.

I sincerely think the Reagan era of ruthless and cunning executive leadership is dead and gone. The latest generation in power now are all Wharton legacies who have never had to use a stainless steel spoon in their collective life. They're the type who think you can whittle your way out of a knife fight.

They might still all be sociopaths, but none of them seem to have that edge the previous generation did. Thank parise.

And now we seem to be on the leading edge of a generation of stronger union leaders.
