It's following right in line with speculation of why he was interested in it in the first place. His CEO Tweeted out that the brand formerly known as Twitter will be: https://twitter.com/lindayacc/status...13895463215104

Musk didn't buy Twitter for "free speech" or whatever garbage he spouted at the time.

He bought it because it came with a user base of 450 Million active accounts he can tap into and use how he wants versus growing a network organically.

You want an Uber from a driverless Tesla and pay with Dogecoin? Pull up your [formerly Twitter] app.

Also a sure fire way to launder money if you can just put cash into a virtual currency machine and have it appear in your digital wallet. No banks, and no tracing unless the Feds come hard for the entire app.

You are giving him way too much credit. This whole thing is putting lipstick on a pig there was never a plan. He bought Twitter because he is a child not out of some grand plan for the Grand App. That is a total CYA move.

The guy is literally DMing every former influencer and begging them to sign up for "Blue" for advertising purposes. (many are posting them on Threads) You don't burn every bridge you have if you have plans to make Twitter into "The Future". He is burning it to the ground so he can take a few ideas and start over. He screwed up and now he is in "burn the restaurant and collect the insurance money" part of the old Mob scheme.

"You can't say that, Richie!"

Russian Central Bank reports 3.6% inflation.

Johns Hopkins professor of applied economics and founder and co-director of the Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health, and the Study of Business does independent analysis.

Oh.

Oh.

Even without facts, Russia reporting 3.6% means it's at least 10-20 times that.

... while he's calling for a pause on AI.

I'm going to disagree, a bit, with aparch. He bought twitter because he had an extended case of The Stupids and then was forced to hold to it once he came to his senses. Now he's trying to to shoehorn Twitter into his galaxy-brained "everything website/app" idea that he's had for 25-30 years.

Ask Meta how the "Everything app" has worked so far. The world doesn't want it (yet).

To be fair, isn't that what WHATS APP is for China? Like everything is all through that app. It's basically what makes TEN CENT one of the most powerful companies on the planet.

If I am reading right Microsoft patented "X" in 2003 and it appears Meta owns "X" for online social networking services having purchased it from Microsoft when they bought Mixer...

Elmo is so phucking stupid!

To recap:
- Twitter can't rename themselves in Japan.
- Meta owns the trademark to X as used for social media.
- Microsoft potentially still holds the trademark to X as used for financial apps.
- The X logo is straight ripped from a $30 Adobe font package.
- The removal of the Twitter name and logo from the outside of building was halted mid work because no permit for construction equipment blocking the sidewalk/street was pulled through the city.
- Attempts were made to remove the Twitter logo from inside the offices, some architectual elements, without notifying the landlord.
- No one from X vetted the use of the name / logo change or attempted to trademark it.

Meanwhile, where is fearless leader throughout the last 12 hours of this comedic debacle?

He flew to Italy this morning on his private jet and is letting his CEO do cleanup / damage control.

Bloomberg is estimating that the switch to "X" killed anywhere from $4-20 billion in value.

This was a drunken idea he pushed through on Friday, wasn't it. Like, he was high Friday afternoon and told his CEO, who told him it was unfeasible, and he demanded they do it over the weekend. Hence no planning, no communication, nothing prepared.

He really needs to lay of the shrooms. But, hey, maybe him becoming a homeless hermit in LA is his jam.
