Prepare the guillotines. Or at least properly tax these MFers.

SAG released the responses to their requests of the Studios. Studio's told them to pound sand with their replies.

Of the many egregious responses, the studios said 'yeah, we know we don't pay on time ever, but no we don't agree to raising the fines because we're never going to attempt to improve payment times anyway. So what's the point?"

I believe NBC/Universal also tore up the sidewalk which forced writers to walk in the street where allegedly some were hit by cars. And when the tree pics circulated yesterday it was a wonder they even said "trimmed". In that case I trim my hair every couple days. (im shaved bald)

Here is a great side by side pic:

Those trees are located on, and themselves are, property of the City of LA. Unless (as the article pointed out) Universal acquired a permit approved by the CoLA, they wilfully destroyed city property.

I can't wait for SAG/WGA to FOIA the city for that info.

The sidewalk would be city property also. You trim trees like that in Maine in the summer, dead.

No need. The city has already said they are looking into it...

oh

AND THEY ADMITTED IT!

After contacted by Deadline, a Universal spokesperson released this statement: “We understand that the safety tree trimming of the Ficus trees we did on Barham Blvd. has created unintended challenges for demonstrators, that was not our intention. In partnership with licensed arborists, we have pruned these trees annually at this time of year to ensure that the canopies are light ahead of the high wind season. We support the WGA and SAG’s right to demonstrate, and are working to provide some shade coverage. We continue to openly communicate with the labor leaders on-site to work together during this time.”

The wheels of government bureaucracy grind slowly but accurately... Urban Forestry Division and Bureau of Street Services state no permits were issued and will now look at either fines or other administrative actions.

I like that they pretended that was just a yearly pruning...

BTW I found this interesting:

Did you know SAG-AFTRA is allowing A24 to continue using its actors during the strike because they’ve accepted every single one of SAG-AFTRA’s terms. A small budget film studio can treat its actors and writers fairly, but Disney can’t? It’s all about greed.

I assume this is bullsh-t. Can anyone with knowledge comment?

Seven leading companies in artificial intelligence have committed to managing risks posed by the tech, the White House has said.

This will include testing the security of AI, and making the results of those tests public.

Representatives from Amazon, Anthropic, Google, Inflection, Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI joined US President Joe Biden to make the announcement.
