I'm on the fence about it. I hate monopolization and end-to-end ownership (think Comcast).

But sometimes it makes sense. I'd prefer this go through and operate under a consent order or have significant strings attached. I think it's good actually if they want to buy it to grow that business.

Um, no. The owner and operator of two of the largest platforms owning one of the largest game studios and IPs? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that.

My first apartment in Portland, ME was $450/month in 1993. It is currently $1500.

Housing tripling in thirty years isn't insane, it's normal.

The historical anomaly has been how inflation has been kept so artificially low for so long. The price increases that are freaking out Gen X and Millenials were the normal condition of the economy prior to The Great Greenspan Swindle.

SF prices are insane -- that's more like 1000% in 30 years. Though again not unprecedented-- it's what happens when a real estate market gets ridiculously hot. A given (different) part of NYC has done that in every quarter century since the 1790s.

Prices aren't the problem. It's static wages driven by the death of unions, the erosion of social spending post-1980, and the billionaire fiscal grift of Reagan and his successors of both parties.

No stuff like this is why Antitrust Law exists. We have been way too lax for way too long and that is why competition is dying fast.

So Elmo got a bunch of his fraud journalists like Bari Weiss to try and keep this "Twitter was moderating the Right more than the Left" alive but it did not go well. First of it showed almost nothing (despite dozens of tweets from Weiss, Taibbi and comments by Elon and his sock puppet accounts) but all it really proved was Twitter would not allow groups like Libs of Tik Tock to be moderated and a picture of the account from Twitters end was tweeted as proof. The picture also proved that Twitter was giving total access to certain journalists including it would seem DM access. It got so out of hand the new head of trust and safety had to come out and admit she was the source or risk serious legal action against Twitter.

Needless to say, Twitter is on fire over all of this and Elin is likely going to be in for a lot of headaches.

NEW: Elon Musk is threatening to sue Twitter employees who leak confidential information to the press. He's asking staffers to sign a pledge indicating they've understood. Here's the email:

Free speech hero suing people for using free speech!

(yes that is way overly simplistic)

He isn't we can hiding that he is copying Trumps playbook now...ironic since he just laid a bunch of info to his handpicked press and is getting roasted for it!

Elmo is now accusing Jack Dorsey (and Twitter's former security team who have quit) of being soft of child predation...basically adopting the GOP tactic of saying "anyone who wrongs me is a pedophile!!1!1!". All that effort to get companies to advertise again and he just can't get out of his own way...

He and Kanye are racing.

True, but I honestly think Kanye will have an easier time fixing his image later on. He will claim some mental disease caused it, will travel to Israel and pray at the Wailing Wall and do a lot of "See I am Friends With Jews" PR crap and then release an album and everyone will love him. All Elmo has is his "I am on the spectrum" stuff but that won't be enough to fix all of this.

Honestly, I am starting to believe the conspiracy theory that he bought Twitter to destroy it. The only question is for whom? (Russia or someone else)
