Business, Economics, and Taxes 2: That's Why We Fight to Take the Means Back

Who's trying? Money always wins. We've tried Government as a check on greed for centuries and it has failed every single fucking time.

Doubters in every age; reformers in every age.

You think winning looks like finally defeating greed, but it isn't. Winning is like health care. Keep fighting the new diseases as they infect us. Keep going. Keep the body as healthy as we can.

Per capita suffering has dropped as we have evolved socially and politically. You are not starving right this second. You are not in jail for posting about the government on the internet right this second. You are not getting your head kicked in because you are the wrong color, religion, or other granfaloon right this second.

And the only reason why is a handful of people try in every generation despite the lard asses who tell them it's pointless and we're DOOMED. Be grateful, be one of them, stop whining, get off your ass.

Handy: I used small words, hope you're happy.

Wazzat mean?
The SPY ETF that mimics the stock market was at $683. It is now at $688. A call option for today at $690 was only $5. Within minutes of opening it was $30. A $685 call option was $92 and reached $386. An "in the money" $680 call was $406 and hit $874 (and is still going up).
I have bought put options for tomorrow because I believe the market will crash this afternoon. Of course, I have been expecting the bubble to burst for months now, and it keeps surprising.

Think about what you are saying, though. "We haven't evolved" means it's over, because we sure have been trying. That is depression and impotence and surrender.

"Some of us have evolved, the rest should be taken out back and shot" is at least... hopeful. 💖 And it's a plan.
No it means we hit our apex. Humanity is what it is...if you haven't changed after a few thousand years you aren't going to.

Its why history rhymes brother.

It aint crashing...not yet. It wont until we actually get stuck in a war. As of now it was a one shot deal that made people outside AI rich its exactly what Wall Street wants. Plus it has support from people in media and the government.

Even if public support stays low Wall Street should be fine for a while.

I don't need a crash crash. Just a .25% drop will double my money. It's already .05% down from the high. (Although it is going back up as I type this)

Eventually someone smart (my money's on Tim Cook) will decide to pull the plug and divest from the AI market and reap the rewards. Everyone else will get slaughtered as the price bottoms out. But yeah, that day is still somewhere in the distant future. There is simply too much money to be made. Nancy just made another investment so it's up, up, up....

We definitely have not. Just because you use big words means nothing...

Look at the accomplishments of past civilizations and look at us. Look how barbaric they were and look at us. We havent evolved we just convinced ourselves we are better than they were.
If you think we are remotely as barbaric as past civilizations, I'd recommend:

We are not.

We have evolved, and Dump is just a speedbump in the long march forward.

Trust me I study history both as a hobby and as part of my old job...we are still barbaric.

Read what people did in Iraq, Vietnam, Cambodia, Latin America...anywhere that people have been given the power over life and death. Look at what the rest of the world does in those spots. Darfur, Bosnia, Somalia, Gaza...etc.

Humans are not better we just pretend we are. Mei Lai happened 12 years before I was born.

This isnt a political problem its a human one. Just because we do it more efficiently doesnt make it better. How many genocides have happened in the modern era?

Plus it's Maduro. No one has any sympathy for that guy.

I can agree with all of that....AND also believe that we are far less barbaric than we used to be.

The fact that you can enumerate the relatively few places where barbarism happens today proves the point. In the 1300s, EVERY country was Somalia.

We may be less barbaric, and maybe we have even accumulated some knowledge to put us ahead of where we are. That being said our ability to "progress" in humanity is being snuffed out by the evilest of beings (no better adjective to use).

Greed ranks at the top for all of them. And it doesn't matter who dies.

I used to think that only America's way, way was right
But now the holy dollar rules everybody's lives
Gotta make a million– doesn't matter who dies!

Let me offer a modified Pascal's Wager.

A 2x2 matrix: we recognize man is getting better because of hard effort x it actually is.

Given the outcome T = the world continues to get better, the truth table is:

TTT
TFF
FTF
FFF

What have you got to lose? Civilization is an AND.
