We are there. The only reason that we just did that crap was exactly the same reason vladdy did it- for oil money.
What a terrible country we have. We are the worst country in the world now- huge export markets lost, millions in massive debt without jobs, millions without heathcare, and we are on a path to get even worse.

This is wrong. There has been a bifurcation. Humans have evolved. But there is an atavistic branch that got left behind and are still ape.
The trick is to restrict decision making, political participation, and social rewards to the humans. The apes... Hard labor on the off world colonies, I guess. They'll be happier. Give then Space Jesus and those drugs from Outland.

Look at the accomplishments of past civilizations and look at us. Look how barbaric they were and look at us. We havent evolved we just convinced ourselves we are better than they were.

Think about what you are saying, though. "We haven't evolved" means it's over, because we sure have been trying. That is depression and impotence and surrender.
"Some of us have evolved, the rest should be taken out back and shot" is at least... hopeful.
