Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Unfortunately, the UMD men lost to North Dakota last night.. hopefully some of those fans head over to Ridder tonight rather than watch more games at the X.

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Two new articles on UMD's website. One on Blais earning First Team AllI-American, and the other with quotes from Miller and Blias from yesterday. Interesting note that UMD will indeed again have Minnesota's bench tonight as a higher seed. Heard there was some discussion about that, but rules are rules! GO DOGS!!

When UMD came out of the visitor bench for the Final Faceoff championship and skated to the far net (the home net) it was a little strange (because you don't take the long change twice when you're the home team).. but the staff fixed that during warmups.

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

"AncientOne" has been MIA from here all week I guess...after having a bad cold last weekend...hopefully all is good on that front and he makes it to Minneapolis.

My understanding is that the NCAA controls everything, such as allocation of benches, locker rooms, practice times, etc. The WCHA tournament looked a little more ad hoc, in that UMD didn't seem to realize what tunnel to use with the home bench. It never came up when Wisconsin was the #1 seed, because they always elect to take a locker room in Mariucci and sit on the visitor bench with which they are more familiar.

I hope that both teams are on top of their game tonight. In the previous 5 meetings this season, I think one has always been a little off. It would be nice to put on a show on the big stage, and show the country some great hockey.

ARM, love this. As much as I would love to hand it to Goldy, I like the bigger picture of promoting the sport. I really hope that this match up might draw in some folks in town from the men's side to see the amazing level of play that will be happening tonight.

Okay, now that I've tried to take the high road.....

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

What a game, Fans!!! What a sweet, sweet, victory. We got a great fan base and some good cheering. Let's fire it up for the championship game on Sunday!

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Well played Dogs!!! Great win for this team . . . the joy on Blais' face, Saara, Friddy . . . everyone! That was so much fun.

Good luck against Cornell . . . we'll all be there, proudly, loudly behind you!!!!

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Last post from me until tomorrow evening, since I couldn't get FTP access on the U of M Guest server, to post photos ahead I'm gonna deal with them when I get home after the game instead. Posted in the game thread that with UMD's coaching experience, postseason experience of the 2008 Champions, fans (whether UMD or WCHA at Ridder), and even the UMD pepband, I'm picking UMD by 3 goals.

Classless act, blowing off the Kaz.

A complete slap in the face to the NCAA.

Cornell by 2.

Go Big Red!

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

In Bulldogs related news, the team that Elin Holmlov and Pernilla Winberg are on is playing for the Swedish national championship today while their former roommate, Emanuelle Blais, plays for the NCAA championship. They beat Jenni Asserholt's team 4-1 yesterday with Holmlov getting a goal and an assist and Erika Holst getting an empty netter.

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Since the other thread is going to disintegrate quickly...

Kacy Ambroz was the key to a lot of what UMD did in the 2nd and 3rd overtime today..She rotated between lines to give one player a shift off, and was the lead forecheck every time she was on the ice. She also played with the third line the few shifts they got.

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

The Kaz isn't an NCAA event OR award haters, BUT, the title trophy is! Five of ten isn't too shabby! Great game, Cornell will be back. GO DOGS!!! :)

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Thank you Bulldog Seniros: Saara, Manou, Ras, Kirsti, Sara Murray!!! We'll really, really miss you guys next season and long after!! And, thanks too for the skate around the rink with the trophy acknowledging "us"!! That was truly special, (all the more so at Ridder). My 10y.o. friend Tasch will be dreaming Bulldogs for many weeks . . .

What a great, great season to be a Dog fan!!!

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

I can't wait for the NCAA to start selling the DVD. I suppose they'll charge us double for a triple overtime game, huh? :D

Re: Bulldogs 09-10 Season

Finally finished going through photos and getting them posted.. posted 72 of 1100+ Shot mostly through the glass, especially the overtimes, since it was the only place to really SIT and shoot, and by the overtime I was ready to sit :D

This could have been a huge turning point but she (Blais) managed to tuck her arms in

Lauriane Rougeau desperate attempt to stop Tara Gray's shot that ended up being tipped by Wong for the game winner.. I blew the shot of the tip at the end
