Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Isn't this always the way? Hoky makes a couple of intemperate remarks, and who pays the price? We the innocent, who will be deprived of his inside information and insights.

Maybe he can make a couple of guest appearances on the Boston College Hockey Blog. I'm sure the kid won't mind.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Smart decision. The city is still trying to dig out from last week. Adding another 12-14" on top of that, especially with the timing of this storm, would be dangerous. In 1978, the storm started in the afternoon, so getting there was probably not as difficult. This storm is starting at 2am.

Absolutely correct. To be honest, it really shouldn't even be tonight, either. Now people are being told to avoid the Red Line "because of a shortage of functioning rail cars." And....even more significantly (not that we're splitting hairs here), the Green Line between Haymarket and Kenmore apparently is closed and they are running buses.

I was there in '78, and the ONLY REASON I could even think about going was because I was living in town on Beacon Street. I walked home after the game (and there weren't many people left) - many slept in the Garden. That probably wouldn't be allowed today (there must be some "law" preventing it). It would have been ludicrous to have the games last night. Unfortunately, they're probably looking ahead to the forecast of snow Sunday and Monday and saying, "Well, we can't have it then, either, so we might as well go for it."

Anybody who thinks this city is going to be able to handle the Olympics must be living on another planet..

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

The team should leave now in order to make it the 4 miles to the Garden. I have a 2pm meeting that should go till 2:30 and then I'm packing it up to head over there. I may walk, though that could just as bad.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

eh. much like the beanpot, all the smart people stay home and watch the olympics on tv anyhows :D

Agreed. Hope you haven't been trying to take that Fitchburg line into the city recently (tried to write that in rep and hit return half way through, whoops!).

I had been taking that line for 3 consecutive years and swore I would quit my job before I continued...fortunately I am actually contracting somewhere else now so I can drive my car!!!!

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

our five game beanpot losing streak is over :D

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Great game by you guys and congrats on the win which was deserving. I'm still trying to understand how Harvard's 4th goal was disallowed since the puck crossed the net and the Harvard player was in the net because a BU guy basically tackled him in there.

In any event, best of luck the rest of the way and hope we see you again in the NCAAs

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Thank Christ!! I was sick of losing to Harvard and even more sick of losing Beanpot games. Rooting for BC.

Evens out after your third goal on a delayed penalty when BU clear as day possessed the puck, a play which is not reviewable.
