BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Jack Eichel is the first Terrier to have four 4+ point games in a season since Jay Pandolfo had five 4 point games during the 1995-96 season.

Evan Rodrigues tied the BU record for assists with 6. Ron Anderson was the last Terrier to accomplish the feat on 4 January 1972 vs Merrimack. Rodrigues was also the first Terrier to have 6 points in a game since David Sacco had 7 (2g, 5a) vs Denver on 16 November 1990.

Noone will ever compare Eichel to Pandolfo....Jack has a much higher ceiling and the interesting part of that stat is the game is much more defensively now than when Jay played.

If memory serves, Eichel currently has the exact number of points that Pandolfo had his entire freshman year (40). Tkachuk too.

While Eichel may surpass the number of 4+ point games that Pandolfo had in that senior year of his, he won't likely have as many hat tricks as Jay had - I want to say he had at least 4, on his way to 36 goals for the season (or was it 38?).

Eichel’s current 1.739 ppg is the highest for any Terrier since Chris Drury’s 1.838 ppg for the 1995-96 season. He is currently tied for 8th all-time in freshman scoring by a Terrier and has the most points by a Terrier freshman since Jay Pandolfo had 40 in 1992-93 (as did Tkachuk in 1990-91). With one more point he will have the most points by a freshman since Tony Amonte had 58 in 1989-90. He is also tied for 27th overall in rookie scoring by a Terrier. Jack also has the most points after 24 BU games since Chris Drury had 42 points after 24 games during the 1996-97 season. He is also tied for 7th in scoring at Agganis Arena in a single season and his 1.909 ppg is almost .5 ppg better than any other Terrier.

Yes, it was 38 goals with 29 assists for 67 points (and just 6 PIMs) as a senior. According to the HE record book, he had five hat tricks that season, including a short-handed hat trick vs. Northeastern on 11/4/95. Five of the 38 goals were shorthanded. http://hockeyeastonline.com/pdf/men/indrecords.pdf

If these records are accurate, Rodrigues set a Hockey East record last night with six assists in a game, as well a breaking the record for assists in a period, previously 4 by Bob Lachance vs. BC on 3/4/95.

Jay Pandolfo had 5 hat tricks and 38 goals his senior season (1995-96).

Let's see if Eichel has a 15 yr NHL career somehow Pandolfo found a way to bury pucks with less skill then Jack

Jay didn't bury many pucks in the NHL. He played tremendous defense on a trapping team with a world class goalie. 4th liner extraordinaire.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Eichel is praying be doesn't wind up in NJ, nobody buries pucks there. Offense goes there to die

Along with guys like Mike Grier and Mike Sullivan, Jay was smart to learn the defensive side of the game under Parker's tutelage so that if his offensive skills at the collegiate level didn't translate in the NHL, he would still be able to earn a regular spot on an NHL roster.

I'm not comparing Jack to Jay, or any other Terrier, although Jay had a solid NHL career. I'm just pointing out some things that Jack has done as a Terrier that haven't been done in years or decades. And there are still 9 regular season games plus playoffs left this season.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Someone posted somewhere that he was banned from the Union thread. Does that mean all threads? Is it like a season misconduct?

Hokydad = Banned. Bummer.

All threads going over 1,000 posts forever and being locked recently, my post in the Notre Dame thread being deleted for no reason, Hoky being banninated.... Looks like they got themselves some new mods.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Smart decision. The city is still trying to dig out from last week. Adding another 12-14" on top of that, especially with the timing of this storm, would be dangerous. In 1978, the storm started in the afternoon, so getting there was probably not as difficult. This storm is starting at 2am.
