BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

This is an ongoing issue I have with her. Let's start with Moran's break-away goal in the Beanpot final. She called it a wrister from the slot. Zero mention that it was a breakaway. Regarding the Eichel column: My understanding is the "Coming for ya, Buffalo!" video with the beer was from the fall, yet it was described as post-Beanpot. If you are going to box this as post Beanpot shenanigans, why not reference the drinking from the Beanpot video? Sloppy.

I'm with you, Bomber. Reading your post i distinctly remember her article about BC's NCAA final loss in 2007 to Michigan State. She said that Brian Boyle's poor defensive positioning led to Michigan State scoring the winning goal with 19 seconds left in the 3rd period. Boyle did have poor positioning which led to a MSU goal, but it was the tying goal with 10 minutes left. There were other blatant inaccuracies in the article, and I wrote an email about all of them (asking if she even watched the game) to the Boston Globe and received a response back from their sports editor saying something to the extent that the editor of the article should have caught the errors. I mentioned all this to my good friend who was a member of the Boston hockey media at the time and he said that she had a lazy reputation amongst the writers.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

I see ND is getting annihilated 5-0. I wonder how long it's going to be before they start complaining about all the "traveling" wearing them down. Admittedly, this goes back to my rant last year about why they're in Hockey East in the first place. But think about it...11 of the 12 schools are in New England. After having a year to evaluate, is there any evidence that there was any monetary advantage to this - at all? A school 895 miles from the tournament location?

Try not going to 5 OTs against freaking UMass first then they can complain about travel.

Bentley to hockey east once they build their on campus rink?

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Tonight's game may have been the best I've seen the Terriers play from start to finish this season. Eichel has another great game and is now tied with Tony Amonte for 3rd in freshman scoring and 8th in rookie scoring. It was also pointed out to me that Rodrigues is now the highest scoring senior since Chris Drury and he is currently tied for 13th all-time. I've updated my freshman and rookie scoring lists and added senior scoring lists to it.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Hey Sean,

I'm trying to recall the point totals for the higher scorers between the '91 year (McEachern 82, AMonte 68, D Sacco 61, and Tomlinson 60) and now. Who else has been in at least the 60s? I see from your last post that Pandolfo had 67 as a senior and D Sacco had 62 as a Senior. I'm thinking that Drury's Sophomore and Junior years must have been in the 60s (Junior year for sure).

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

That was an *** kicking. The Warriors two goals were absolute gifts. Complete with a nice bow and a "And when you speak of me, speak well." They lost their focus a bit up 6-1, but that's understandable. They came out in full playoff mode. Good to see. Interesting forward rotation. I wanna see that spreadsheet. :). I hope #16 is back next weekend.

BU Hockey: Finish 'em

noooooooooooooo, as has been written before on BCI, ND leaves(YAYYY!!!) when Arizona St goes D1 ( assuming NCHC) making that league have uneven number, ND goes to NCHC where they belong in the first place, even it out, and Q enters HE. No better scenario. We get rid of Notre Dame and King Boar Jeff Jackson and bring in Q , excellent program that plays a great brand of hockey . Then Bentley replaces Q in ECAC if you want

And then they change the playoffs so the bottom four don't get in.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Asked this question to mookie last night and he couldn't recall.....what was the playoff structure last year with 11 teams?

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Hockeyeast playoff formula is a joke-look at attendance from last night which ranged form 1300 in Prov to 4100 in Lowell
Need teams to eliminated before playoffs- Everyone in just protects coaching jobs

claver prefers ND leaving & folding the umass program so we go back to 10 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The first round was single elimination. Everyone in, one and done. Second round was best of three.

The attendance sucks because a) the games aren't part of season ticket packages b) Spring Break! No students = crappy attendance. There is no fix. Unless you figure out some way to miraculously convince 3,000 alumni and or general hockey fans that college hockey is an awesome take in great arenas at a fraction of NHL prices. It is what it is.

nah, we didnt have a first round single elimination game and neither did PC or UML so the top whatever did have a bye. I didnt look at everyone's schedule and could not find the HE composite schedule for last year. I dont think they save that. Didn't like the bottom i dunno, 8 play each other then those winners seeded vs the one's that got a bye? Jesus, i'm getting old, memory fading

we actually had decent student attendance, it was the alumni that didnt fill their side like normal in these games

Last season 1-5 got a bye and 6 hosted 11, 7 hosted 10, 8 hosted 9. 4 & 5 were automatically paired for the 2nd round. 6-11 played a single elimination 1st round game. They did the usual reseeding after the 1st round.

Did you forget because of what Notre Dame did? :p
