BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Might be less about momentum and more about legs. They'll be doing periods 11.5, 12.5, and 13.5 in three days.

Both teams are in that situation though. UMass had zero energy left in the 3rd period yesterday, and suddenly had to take penalties left and right.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

BU Women beat a 1-loss BC team 4-1 to win their 4th straight Hockey East Championship. 5 WHEA titles of the last 6. Another outstanding job by Coach Durocher. Always has them playing their best this time of year.

Video highlights. Kudos to the BU women and especially to Brian Durocher. Five HE titles in six years for a 10 year old program. Four straight matches Parker's mid 70s teams' achievements.

Right. I'm simply saying that it's going to be less about 'momentum' and more about who can still stand up in the third period today.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Just watched the highlights of the women's game. What a great win.

Tough for BC that their two losses were for trophies.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Congrats to the ladies. Great win. As for the men, looks like the Hack next weekend. The game at HAA this year BU totally controlled. That was then....

A bit of plus and minus with MC, Tirronen is playing extraordinarily well right now. At the same time, MC took a boat load of penalties this weekend against NU, but their PP is nowhere near the caliber of ours so they weren't able to convert. Tirronen will have to turn in an otherworldly performance to get two Ws if they find their way into the box as much as they did this weekend.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Here are the matchups...

BU - Merrimack
Providence - UNH
BC - Vermont
Lowell - Notre Dame

Potentially we're looking at a BU/ND semi at the Garden. A little unsettling...I'd like to see us focus a little more on goal prevention. Not a great feeling to have given up 11 goals to a Northeastern team that was completely shut down by Merrimack. Playoff hockey is different and we need to close up those gaps a little...

Heh...UMass apparently had no legs at all left.

If MC takes a many penalties as they did against the Huskies, Eichel and company may set a tournament scoring record. Was at the regular season game at HAA, and it was a physical mismatch. Having said that, Tirronen is in a zone right now, and a hot goalie.....;)

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Does HEA charge less for kids tickets to QF playoffs?

AHA had adults for $14 and kids $8

They didn't. Took them 11 minutes to get their first shot on goal. The whole third period was irrelevant, ND was toying with them at that point. Did feel bad for Mastalerz, had a heck of a game Friday, tough way to go out (injury).

Not sure about kids, but it seems like season ticket holders are charged significantly less. I renewed my QF seats separately and it was $90 for two seats. Assuming that they charged for the potential 3rd game as usual, that works out to $15/ticket.

No kids prices. $15/ticket with a chance of a $15/ticket refund for game three. Young Alumni get $10/ticket prices. WOOOOOOO being young. Sorry, old farts.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Tough draw for your ladies. Would be better off playing the wisconsin men!

Well, no disrespect toward anyone, but do you really think it matters? The western teams won 13 of the first 14 women's Frozen Fours (until Clarkson last year), so I don't think it matters who anyone from the East draws. Eventually they'll have to play a team from the West and will probably lose.
