BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Well, no disrespect toward anyone, but do you really think it matters? The western teams won 13 of the first 14 women's Frozen Fours (until Clarkson last year), so I don't think it matters who anyone from the East draws. Eventually they'll have to play a team from the West and will probably lose.

BC women won't have to play a western team until the final, meaning there is a realistic possibility they push their record to 0-3 in tourney finals and 35-0-2 in all other games this year, which would be beyond absurd.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

So I guess that sounded kind of harsh. Let me rephrase. When one league (or region) loses 13 years in a row, there can only be one reason, and that is there is a significance disparity in talent level. It's too large of a sample size for luck to be a consideration. So all I'm saying is that they ALL are going to have tough draws whenever they go up against the West. From every game I've seen, they're simply faster and more skilled. At some point the gap may close, but I'm not seeing it yet.

Or it just means that the best teams win the biggest games...

The Len Ceglarski years have returned to The Heights! On the women's side!

Probably gonna go all 3 games right? Agganis needs that concession $$$.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Quinn on Merrimack (from The Mack Report):

“They play [the 1-3-1] and they play it well,” BU head coach David Quinn said. “If you’re standing still and holding the puck, you play right into their hands. We want to play at the pace that we know we can play at. Our strength is puck movement and support. If we are able to do the things we’ve been able to do throughout the season, we’ll have success. If we’re slow and hold the puck and take our time, we’ll be in trouble.

“If teams give you time you think you can take your time,” Quinn said. “You think you can slow it down and you can’t do that. We need to attack with speed, but also we need to be patient. Again, that’s a mental challenge. Human nature is such that, when you have time, you take your time. We need to play at the pace we want to play at and be in position to support the guy with the puck and play quickly.”

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Heads up- there is a major swim meet at BU this weekend. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Prelims in AM, but warmups for finals start around 4-4:30 each day. Swim parents have been told to clear out of Agganis garage before finals. Even if they do, they'll clog things up everywhere else. Currently being told to use 808 Comm. Ave. for evening/finals races.

Lovely.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

I've been going to BU games as an alum since 1990, and I always park in the same place, for free, never have a problem, it's just a matter of how far a walk I end up with. Heading west, bang a left at T-Anthony's, and drive until spots start opening up on the left. Just don't stay too late, since you are in Brookline and I believe there is no overnight parking there.

Brookline's Town Motto is "Overnight Parking Prohibited".

Bomber - from someone who never stepped foot into any school of journalism, can you explain what about that article comes off as her being lazy? Truly not a criticism, I'm just curious. Not enough people interviewed? Rehashing stuff others have already written about? Should she have asked tougher questions? I'm glad she included the whole beer thing, because I had not seen any articles with comments about it.

This is an ongoing issue I have with her. Let's start with Moran's break-away goal in the Beanpot final. She called it a wrister from the slot. Zero mention that it was a breakaway. Regarding the Eichel column: My understanding is the "Coming for ya, Buffalo!" video with the beer was from the fall, yet it was described as post-Beanpot. If you are going to box this as post Beanpot shenanigans, why not reference the drinking from the Beanpot video? Sloppy.

Gotcha. I do get perturbed when the description of a goal is way off. Such as a one-timer being described as a redirection.
