BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

Schloss had tweeted something similar about a month ago: https://twitter.com/SchlossmanGF/status/983741718116921344

However, there is also this nugget from McMahon: https://twitter.com/MikeMcMahonCHN/status/993953672181764098

Farrance was selected in the 15th round of the USHL draft, apparently a chance he does not return.

If there was any legitimate chance Farrance would be playing in the USHL next season, he would've been selected a lot higher than the 15th round.

Jeff Cox‏ @JeffCoxSports
Tyler Boucher committed to BU today after a great showing at WSI. ‘03 F heading to Avon Old Farms. Plays heavy, goes to the net hard, goal scorer, plays with edge.
Father is ex-NHL goalie Brian Boucher. Right-shot forward played for Comcast in Philly areas the past two years. Had 8 points in 7 games at WSI.

Received an A+ rating at Total Pro Showcase of top ’03 prospects.

Tyler Boucher, #10 Canadiens, Right Shot, Team Virtua - He has a quick stick and was a good skater. His speed into the zone down the left wing started a scoring play. He also made a really nice pass to spring a teammate on a partial breakaway. He had a heavy shot as well.

Another BU recruit is flying the coup to major juniors. This time its Donovan Sebrango.

Well that's disappointing. Not sure what is going on, but I guess it is hard to deny that the coaching change must have had an impact. As a parent, I just can't see deciding to change my kids whole path just because a coach left - if you've picked the NCAA route and then are worried about the change in coach, wouldn't you look to just switch schools? Certainly nobody is going to argue with a desire to change schools.

I guess with Sebrango, you may have put a lot of stock into Quinn's ability to develop defensemen?

Can figure if you change schools, maybe the next coach will split as well

Anyone’s wag at this point

Cheremata is a 5'11' left-shot forward from Parkland, FL. Born in Belarus. Had 18-41-59 in 50 games for Islanders Hockey Club's NCDC team and finished tied for third in the league in scoring. Had been a Vermont commit for 2019-20.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

NEHJ report on a pair summer hockey tournaments this past weekend:

This past weekend, many top prospects born in 2002 and 2003 converged on the Greater Boston area to play in the Junior Chowder Cup and the Junior Battle of Boston.

College coaches and junior scouts were on hand to watch, as the two tournaments took place across Massachusetts in Foxboro, Walpole, Canton and Attleboro. There were far too many teams and a wide variety of talent, making it impossible to view every team.

Boston University recruit Jeremy Wilmer, playing on Hockey Essentials White, was by far the best player viewed over the weekend. A standout at USA Hockey Select 15s, he was equally good in Walpole. He’s on the smaller side, but he has great hands, protects pucks and produces offensively on a consistent basis.

Jeff Cox's list of top players he viewed included another BU recruit, Tyler Boucher.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

Sebrango replacement?

Possibly, although Fensore is apparently a 2019 recruit, along with fellow NTDP blueliners McCarthy and Vlasic. All three and Trevor Zegas will be at BU for an Oct. 19 exhibition.

If this commitment switch is confirmed, then all eight of the NTDP U18 Ds for this season will be committed to Beanpot schools: 3 for BU, 3 for BC, 2 for Harvard.
