BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

If Sampo Ranta does make a move, maybe having a Finnish teammate in Kotkansalo would be an appealing factor in his decision as to where he goes. With Brady’s unfortunate decision, we have an opening and from what I’ve read, he seems to be a raw talent with great upside....

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

I just saw a tweet with news of a new recruit.

Brian Carrabes. What's the 411 on this kid?

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

Back in March, Cox (“CHRR”) reported on this thread that BU had interest but I had not heard anything since.

Here's my article I just published on him with 2 quotes from Carrabes on why he chose BU, his strengths and weaknesses, and more.

Also, back on March 1, I rated him as the top '01 prospect in MIAA (Mass HS Hockey)

Great skater. Saw him play for St. John's Prep a couple of times in the Super 8. Was the most noticeable player on the ice.

For 2020-21. Speedy 5-10 RW from N.Andover. Top scorer and goal-scorer on St. John's Prep last season (21-13-34). Transferring to Kimball Union Academy. Cox reported that several top prep schools were competing for him. Had a strong performance at BU's recent Prep Camp.

That makes me feel better. Some time between SJP and BU is needed, based on our old friend Sam Kurker.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

So how do we (or do we) fill the vacancy created by Tkachuk? We have scholarship $$ that could, I suppose, be used to augment support of current players who don’t have a full ride. It would seem that we have an chance to be tactically opportunistic, however.

Domenick Fensore delivered the game-winner in both U18 games at the USHL Fall Classic. Saturday, his shootout goal decided a win over Sioux Falls. Yesterday, he scored with 10.9 seconds left in regulation for a 2-1 win over Omaha, beating fellow 2019 recruit Vinny Purpura, who had stopped 34 shots. tinyurl.com/y7hxkzmn

Selects Academy high-scoring right wing Ethan Phillips has committed to BU. Another former QU commit, he had 31 goals and 68 points in 45 games last year with the 16Us and 30/61 in 47 the previous year. Like Bowers, he's from Nova Scotia. More late tonight on the blog. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/305096/ethan-phillips

Any idea what is going on with Quinnipiac losing these good kids to BU?

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 4

2020 recruit Cade Webber, Dman playing at The Rivers School for Shawn McEachern, will join the U18s for Friday's exhibition. Could be four future BU D's in the NTDP line-up.
