Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

BU received a commitment from Ohio Blue Jackets U18s right-shot forward Kole Sherwood for 2016 or 2017. 6-0, 183 lbs. Leads the Jackets in goals with 22-26-48 in 31 games. Older brother Kiefer plays for Youngstown (with Letunov) and is headed to Miami. Kole was drafted by Youngstown in the USHL futures draft. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=234873

Over The Boards tweeted: 97 F Kole Sherwood (@AAABlueJackets U18) commits to BU. Our #68 uncommitted. 6'0 winger, can scoot, thinks fast, opportunistic + great shot.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Two goals and three assists for 2017 recruit David Farrance in a 6-5 Victor win. https://vine.co/v/OPU0wX5zlO9
Farrance, who also skates for the Syracuse Stars 16Us (27G, 25A in 29 games), is a considered a lock for next season's NTDP U17s.

Ryan Cloonan commits to BU. Cloonan was a Maine recruit at one point.

Over The Boards @OTBPuckWatch
95 F Ryan Cloonan (@BostonJrBruins Premier) commits to BU. Slippery local talent for the Terriers, scores, makes use of space. 65 pts in 50.

Funny that this guy is roughly two years older than Eichel. I assume he is for 2015? Lord knows we have lots of forwards for 2016. Anyone have a sense of where he projects (top two lines or more of a grinder?).

Seems like a third/fourth line guy as an underclassmen but a four year guy which is crucial to mix in with all of the high end guys who could leave after 2-3 years. Probably a top 6 guy by the time he is a senior as he seems pretty skilled.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

2015 recruit Maxim Letunov, a Blues #2 draft pick, traded to the Coyotes with a draft pick for Zbynek Michalek.

Coyotes GM Don Maloney: "Maxim is a big, skilled center with excellent upside," Maloney said. "He will play at Boston University next season who do a great job developing players.

Letunov -- about having his rights traded to Arizona and hitting the 100-point milestone

Next season, Letunov will play for Boston University.
I’m very excited to be part of the Coyotes organization. Next year, I’m going to Boston University. That’s also what they want me to do for my development.
“It’s a really good school, they really do a good job of developing players.”

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

A new recruit:

Over The Boards @OTBPuckWatch - 99 F Logan Cockerill (Belle Tire U16) commits to BU. Skilled 5'9 threat reportedly lit up spring Beantown, had lots of #HockeyEast interest.

http://www.eliteprospects.com/playe...=273963&team=&year=&status=&leagueid=&season=

Also from OTB:
RE: Cockerill, great speed & tough to contain because of elusive skating. Finisher at every level: his play sticks out among skilled rosters.

According to USHR, Cockerill, a Michigan native who played in the spring Beantown Classic to showcase himself to Eastern teams, also had full offers from BC and Northeastern. UNH interested, too.
Has speed and quick hands, which allow him to make plays like crazy. Hustles. Flies around. Will be a point producer for BU.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

BU has a verbal from 6-2, 200, RD Shane Switzer from Michigan via Victory Honda program, now in AJHL with Lloydminster. Switzer played last season for the Victory Honda 18Us who lost to Shattuck Prep (Chase Phelps, Clayton Keller) in the Tier 1 18U nationals.

Shane Switzer (Lloydminster Bobcats) has committed to Boston University for 2016-2017 @TerrierHockey @LloydBobcats @TheAJHL @ShaneSwitzer13

Over The Boards ‏@OTBPuckWatch:

Interesting on Switzer....concern about losing more d-men than we originally planned?

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

USA Hockey feature piece on 2016 recruit Clayton Keller.

Since his call-up to the U18s, he has 11 points (4G, 7A) in five games, which gives him the best PPG on the team. Ex-NHLer Matthew Barnaby, who coaches the Buffalo Regals 16Us, tweeted:
Krys and Keller only 2 I had to game plan around for 6 yrs. #Studs
