BU-Merrimack 11/13 and 11/14

Re: BU-Merrimack 11/13 and 11/14

Lets see...

First period BU outshot MC 12-5, second periodwas 14-11 for MC. Total after 2 periods was 23-19 in favor of BU. BU had 12 total power plays and MC had 7. Shots for the game were 34-34
MC scored 4 even strength goals, BU scored zero even strength goals.
MC has a very good team and Cannata is a big part of it. He is a quiet hummble kid who diverts all the praise to his team.
He is the better of the 2 goalies and will start to play more of the games as the season goes on. MC's other goalie is outstanding as well but this is not Dunham and Snow and MC will make their move and the move will be JC.
great win, BU will be ready tonight.

Does anyone know why Warsofsky did not play for BU?

Wow, nice win for Merrimack. If the Warriors split the weekend series do you think there is still the chance they will be ranked. Wins over the #7, #12 and #17 teams in the country have to mean something, right?

I think we here at BU are more worried about Merrimack sweeping the weekend series than we are about what Merrimack's ranking afterwords...

Yeah - if Merrimack wins tonight and isn't in the top 20 it would be a travesty. BU will be out of the top 20 even if they win 20-0 tonight.

Re: BU-Merrimack 11/13 and 11/14

The win is the thing for the mack's ranking hopes... Not the opponent. As unfortunately beating BU right now is as impressive as beating AIC. :(

Just stop posting here.

Re: BU-Merrimack 11/13 and 11/14

Doesn't matter if MC gets ranked or not... they ARE a top 20 team. Any team's fans that think their team lost to MC because their team didn't show up, well, those fans are in complete denial, IMO. The Mack is for real... there's some real good talent and coaching going on up there.

Not saying I've seen any of that here... I think the BU fans understand it. But I've seen it on other threads. Tell ya what... BC came to play at the Mack and lost 5-3.

Oh, I completely agree - Merrimack was definitely the better team last night. I'm confused how they can have a record as amazing as they do and not be ranked at all. They should be. (Western bias!!) That said, as a BU fan I can still say that BU played like crap last night. They didn't show up last night. That doesn't mean that Merrimack lucked out. Far from it. It also doesn't mean that Cannata "stole" the game. He didn't have to do much. That's not a dig.

I did want to say that I like the new MC logo that the athletic department is using.

Re: BU-Merrimack 11/13 and 11/14

merrimack is still night and day on the road vs at home. i expect a much better result from BU at Agganis.

I was only able to listen to last night's game on the radio, but the crowd sounds amazing all of a sudden. Shame, I rather liked playing in an empty gymnasium for a couple games a year, it was a a nice change of pace. Of course, the Warriors probably benefit more from knowing their rink and such.

Hopefully BU will play much better tonight, but Merrimack is for real regardless of the outcome. Good for them.

In record only. They played pretty well at Conte. They are a young team and still feeling their way (much like our Eagles). I think the talent is there to change the road record soon.

Re: BU-Merrimack 11/13 and 11/14

1. im not a girl
2. im not the one making outrageously wrong comments about last nights game
3. i dont have a clear agenda against a player on the opposing team

2. I didn't make any outrageously wrong comments about last nights game. My opinion is just that, an opinion/observation. What fact is wrong?
3. I don't have an agenda against any player. Did hear BU fans say he was better then JC many times last year, which he is not. They won the NCAA championship game in spite of goal tending last year. Regionals, he was very sharp, championship game was almost given away.
You can blame the team, dump on the D but at the end of the day, he is paid to stop the puck. Cannata did, he didn't. Shots are and were 34-34. Bu outshot MC 12-5 in first. Even up MC gave up zero goals, BU gave up 3. BU had 12-7 power play advantage,
34-34 is a fact, not an outrageously wrong comment

Cannata is the better goalie

you should just change your name to canatadad (spelling error and all!) unless youre a virginia tech fan..then there would still be a spelling error!

Re: BU-Merrimack 11/13 and 11/14

I don't want to get too involved in Slurpees v. Cannata's Father, but Slurpees, I want to point out something you said in a post further down that I read last night (so I'm paraphrasing here).

You said Cannata played well but detracted from his performance because he was leaving rebounds. You said Millan is good and our D sucks because they aren't clearing rebounds. So rebounds from Millan are okay, but rebounds from Cannata aren't?

My point is this - there is a lot more to playing goalie than stopping the shot. You have to stop the next one, too. And the one after that. And all season long, Millan's been getting the primary assist on each of our opponent's goals because he's leaving fatties, or just dispensing with requiring the other guys to get to the puck, and just putting it right back on their sticks for them. If Adam Kraus had been playing all season, we would have more wins. He was great in the second exhibition game - very quick and very sharp. He should have played before last night. Very disappointed, but not very surprised, that Parker hadn't tried to do anything to, oh, I don't know ... make the team better?

youre right - and i didnt say millan played well by any stretch last night. my point was against his argument that cannata was the difference last night - this is absolutely wrong. there have been a few *** goals this year from millan, but many more 2/3 on 1's and forwards alone in front of the net due to defenders who are lazy or aren't paying attention. i remember when millan was first playing last season, my beef with him compared to rollie at the time was that millan had trouble controlling his rebounds. he got better as the season progressed but it came back to bite him a few times. Millan certainly doesn't get a get out of jail free card for the 2-6 record, but at the same time we're not 2-6 largely because of him coughbennettcough.

Exactly. He accuses everyone of being biased when in fact it is he who is jaded. Cannata leaving a rebound there and BU not scoring is a bad thing for Cannata but when the BU leaves a rebound and MC scores, its not Millan's fault.

The facts of last nights game speak for themself.
